Arena Zamboni?

Does anyone think it would be GP to build and bring an Arena Zamboni to a regional? The idea would be sort of like a Roomba for the Lunacy arena, deploy it at breaks and it drives around in a pattern and sucks up the crud and dirt and sprockets on the floor - so the volunteers don't have to.

I am trying to build some excitement for this on my team. I figure we can use last year's controller and some ultrasonic sensors. Even a real vacuum cleaner/shop vac (with a 12 to 120 V inverter...) and perhaps 3 or 4 batteries. Oh, it would be autonomous.

Comments?

I like it. It can't hurt to build it! Even if it's not used, at least you'll have started and completed a valuable exercise for the team.

Might be a good idea after seeing the powder on the floor after alittle testing.

Hmmmm Make it big enough so that people can ride it? I have always wanted to ride one at a hockey game.

It doesn't have to be autonomous, Don...it could be a hovercraft. We've built one of those...:D

For those not on 1676: one of our students built a basic hovercraft over the summer as a personal project...it's not our robot.

Nice idea. If implemented that would lead to some interesting results.

That would be awesome. I hope it is shaped like a mini zamboni because, well zambonis are awesome.
