Use of Wireless Router

Last year our team used a system for scouting which tracked data and such, but anyway, we used a wireless router to keep all of our computers in the loop if you will. I am wondering if we are likely to be in trouble for using this system this year as the robots now have wireless routers themselves. Would our team be on grounds for disqualification as first can not really patrol and check what type of router each team has? Are wireless systems for computers even going to be legal at all this year?

As long as you're connected to your router (and you can check by opening a command prompt and typing "ipconfig" and verifying that your ip isn't 10.XX.YY.* where the * is any number and the XX.YY is a team number) you should be safe, since Windows should only be able to have one wireless connection at a time going.

Hopefully they'll allow it. As stated in another thread, there's no way they'd be able to stop the venues themselves from using wireless, since most are some type of university or sports arena which are partially in use during the competition.

But to be on the safe side, try to plan a scouting system that uses wireless and/or manual synchronization. I.E., thumb drives, wired network at the pit or stands where everyone goes to upload data, etc...
