This is kinda interesting, I just reread the FIRSTinMichigan rulebook, and if you are attending 3 district regionals only the first two count towards your state ranking points. So what if the 5th week regionals have the top 2 seeds are playing in their thrid regional, what do you do with the points?

Re: 2009 traverse city district

Any of the points earned by "third event" teams will not count toward their total. To the best of my knowledge, they won't be applied to any other teams either. They will just vanish into thin air (so to speak). The net effect of the "vanishing points" will be to reduce the required point total for getting into State. The top 64 (?) teams will receive invitiations to State, ragardless of their point total.

Confused yet?

For TC, the "median" score was 21.5. It will probably be similar for future events. Based on that, a 2-event total would be 43. I expect the cutoff to be somewhere between 35 and 40 after "3-event" team scores are accounted for.
