Game options

so my team is in turmoil right now. the rules say that nothing can exeed the perimeter of our bumpers. if this is so how can we pick up a ball or design something like that?

Popular designs ideas this year include a gap in the "front" of your robot to herd balls & collect them up a ramp or conveyor of sorts.
Or your Payload Specialist can always load a top mounted hopper on your robot so you don't even have to pick any balls up off the floor if you don't want to.

Check out some of the recent pictures here in the galleries on the portal page, & you'll see some ideas & concepts of those 2 ideas.

Keep in mind other rules are in place to design around, but the key is that you are correct; nothing can extend past that bumper perimeter so no arms reaching out of your bot to grab things!

Good luck!

That is part of the challenge this year :) Keep in mind that the bumper perimeter is defined as "the polygon defined by the outer-most set of
exterior vertices on the ROBOT". Along with the other bumper rules (which you should read and fully comprehend!), this means you can have gaps that allow balls to enter inside your bumper perimeter, then use whatever mechanism you design there to manipulate the ball.
