Slow-motion 4WD wheelspin on hardwood
 

This is a video we took of our kitbot chassis accelerating on hardwood with a slow-motion camera. It's pretty neat to see how much it slips.

And since I work for Sony, I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't mention that the fine product used to record that video was a Sony HDR-SR1.

I'd like to see a side-by-side of a full on acceleration wheel spin and an effective implementation of traction control.

Hopefully, I can get ours to be effective:yikes:.

It should be interesting to see the advantage.

this is great. What is the most inexpensive camera out there that can provide similar results?

The Casio EX-F1 is $1000, and it has up to 1200fps recording. The video I posted was 240fps.

There are other sony camcorders that do this (the feature is called "smooth slow record"), and the cheapest one I can find is $800CDN. So you can probably find ones in the states with this feature for $600ish.

The camera I used was a Sony HDR SR1 (only one '1'). You touch the home button (top left on the screen), then select 'smth slow rec.' in the next menu.

thanks, i just looked and i found it. I am so going to take my camcorder to robotics now.
