TEDS

I find a palett of VIs entitled TEDS with no help showing. What does TEDS stand for and where can I find documentation for these VIs?

TIA

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transdu...nic_Data_Sheet

TEDS (aka Smart Sensors) have a digital interface for calibration and configuration information AND (maybe? I haven't read through the above link and don't use these at work) an analog output.

Smart Sensors gathered a lot of interest a few years back but don't seem to have caught on. I don't believe that the FRC cRIO can easily and fully support Smart Sensors. Specifically, the digital cal/config interface has not been developed and we don't use the standard connector.

Re: TEDS

TEDS = Transducer Electronic Data Sheet, a part of the IEEE 1451 standard for smart sensors.

National Instruments has adopted some "Plug-and-Play" smart sensors in their product line. You can learn more at their website: http://www.ni.com/teds/

Cool stuff, but not really useful for FRC robots (yet).
