Oregon RoboHawks.com

I basicly built our site by myself, only using what MySpace profile and forum posting code skill I had. I was up to my neck in work. Design and graphics are NOT my strong point. The nearest professional help for me is 50 miles away.

Let me know what you guys think. I do change it when I can.

SHWING!

Ok. So I say this... Bad news first: bevels do not look good. I'm going to guess you have photoshop. Go back and lessen the size, increase the choke, and lessen the spread. Next get rid of the odd black space on the header (I'm guessing this is happening because you are using tables.. yep. I knew it. Nix the tables and use divs.) You will learn to love divs. They are easier than tables. Use w3schools.com to do more research. TRUST ME. Now lets move on..

The content is fine. Change the yellow a's to something less yellow and more with the color scheme (white??) and change the a:hover's to something other than baby blue (red??)

Ask me specific questions. I can help you better that way:)

I appreciate the help greatly! :D

I understand everything your talking about. Tables are messing but divs are more content friendly. The problem is when it comes to coding and execution (Editting the code) it's over my head. As I said, I had little skill.:D

However, I used a program that came with the domain. It's located on the server. This was easiest for me to use giving the time constraint I was given.

To prevent cluttering up the thread, may I get one of your IM or e-mail addresses?

The header is good, but I think that you violate the usfirst rules for their logo, see http://www.usfirst.org/community/res...er.aspx?id=650 and http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles...QuickStart.pdf

Indeed.

The only thing that I can see it being against the rule is the placement on visually active backgrounds (photos), strong textures and incompatible shades of color. The header does not include area of the criteria, so I think it falls into a gray area.

If your pertaining to the missing of the text, I don't see any rule about that. Please, tell me if I'm wrong. I'm trying to get the site as accurate as possible. :)

I'm almost certain that the laser imprint defaces the logo, but I'm not 100% sure about it.

Page 14-16 of that logo guide pretty much make it clear what can and cannot be done. More or less what it boils down to is that you cannot edit the logo in any way except to resize it, and even the size has limits. As far as the text... Even though it isn't explicitly said that you can or can't remove it the first 2 sets of examples of what not to do suggest that they don't want it altered or removed.

I'm not trying to be a downer or anything, but I guess I would just rather be safe than sorry. (Trust me, I wanted to do a bunch of cool stuff with the logo that I though looked great, but my mentor contanly drilled me about those rules until I pretty much designed the header around a pure, unaltered logo :p )

EDIT - Also, I really don't know how strict FIRST is when judging the sites... So I guess if you want to push you luck thats your choice. :P

I think that part of the criteria that the website is judged on is use of the FIRST logo, so it's probably better to be on the safe side.
