Travis, thanks for the kind words. I saw that your team was recording the video feed at the event... will you be passing it along to The Blue Alliance?

Presumably, but I'm still waiting for Buckeye Regional vids to appear on TBA (as well as updated and accurate W-L-T records :p). I think David Thomas from 964 was on the hook for those parsed vids, if I recall.

For Pittsburgh, our alumni mentor Frank (who did a great job producing the webcast with 291, by the way) tells me he does not have the time to parse the video (I believe it is all in .flv format), but he can send the video to someone else who wishes to volunteer and who would then pass the vid on to TBA. Frank does have FTP capabilities to send the files to any volunteers who step up to the plate.

On behalf of team 3062, I would like to thank everyone at the Pittsburgh Regional! The support and encouragement from every team, every mentor, and every volunteer there kept my team's spirits high.

291 and 2172 - Thanks for a tremendous effort in the tournament!

2051 - Thanks for your programming skills and support. Words can't explain how grateful we are. Congratulations on finally getting into the tournament!

1629 - Thanks for the autonomous programming help.

Travis and Team 48 - Thanks for helping with our wiring!

63 - Thanks for being great pit neighbors and all of your help and support.

337 - Thanks for the trailer hitch bolts.

1708 - Thanks for the great head-to-head wide-bot battles. It was great working together in our final qualification match.

1743 - Congratulations to my former team. Great job and effort! Sorry about the steel rod! :o It is a souvenir I will cherish for a long time!

Tim and Jess... two of the finest, hard working volunteers I've ever worked with! Congratulations!

This was an amazing regional event! I enjoyed seeing friends from previous events and making new friends. I can't wait until next year!

I feel like I've purchased a one-way ticket to cloud 9. This has been an unbelievable year for me and St. Joseph High School.

Gigapan Images from Pittsburgh

Tom Lauwers of Gigapan was at the event on Friday and shot several great images. They're posted on the Gigapan site.

Re: Pittsburgh Regional

I actually stopped in here to ask if anyone remembered what the panoramic photo machine website was called, and Pete had that covered. So I'll quickly move onto my secondary purpose, that of thanks.

Thanks to Ken from C.I.A. (291) and Jerry from the Red Barons (63) for helping us out with some electrical and hardware problems.

Thanks to MARS (2614) for the inflatable green martian, which one of our students won. It will be moving into our workshop full-time starting tomorrow.

Thanks to teams 2603 and 63 for selecting us as their third alliance partner. In only our second year as an FRC team, it was a great honor to make the Elimination rounds. I also wish to extend our deepest apologies for letting down our partners with an untimely breakdown, which forced them to replace us. At least it gave 337 a much-deserved shot at the playoffs.

Finally, I want to thank my team members who are moving on to college next season: Mike Tasota, Kelly Miller, assistant captain Nick Grieco, and our team captain Katia Paramonova. In all honesty, going on without them isn't going to be easy, but I know they will all be with the team in spirit (and some perhaps even in person) when the Regionals roll around in 2010.

Congratulations to the wining alliance, and thank you to all the great teams and people in Pittsburgh again this year. FIRST continues to be a positive experience for both myself and our students. I can't imagine life without it now. See you all in 2010 in the Steel City, and perhaps even in Cleveland if we can swing it.

Be seeing you.

Re: Pittsburgh Regional

What an event! I would like to say thank you to all the volunteers that made this regional possible! Also a huge thank you to the Labview support volunteers and also to 1218 for spending so much time helping us get our robot running. We unfortunately did not have our cRio updated prior to the competition and encountered some issues after updating the cRio that left us dead until Thursday afternoon. Volunteers like these and the graciousness of the teams that attend the Pittsburgh regional are just awesome and that's why it's quite possibly our favorite event! Also a special thanks to Wayne Penn for great MCing and the boost of support he gave us and all the other teams competing at the Pittsburgh regional.

Thanks to our partners that made our alliance an awesome force. Thanks to 1218 for having an awesome dumping bot and great scouting to help out with our second pick not to mention the programming help. I suggest everyone take a little time to look at their machine and creative use of materials including use of crutches and hockey sticks in their design. Thanks to 1743 for playing some great defense and bringing their awesome human player. We could not have won without either team and I cannot say thank you enough!

Finally thanks to the students on team 222, their parents, our hometown community, our small but many sponsors, our school district and my fellow mentors. Without support from everyone we could never put a bot together. We are eternally grateful for all who have supported us in the past and those that continue to support us in the future. It's been an emotional roller coaster this weekend going from a robot that couldn't even move to a regional champion!

Thanks again to everyone!

This is really neat - thanks for posting. I took the liberty of recording a few snapshots within some of the gigapans. Fun stuff.

Team 869 would like to congratulate all of the teams at the 2009 Pittsburgh Regional! Everyone did a great job! Just a quick question, I was wondering if anybody got any video of the 'roller coaster' crowd demo. If so, please PM me so we can work out an email exchange. Also, I hope everyone had fun this year, I know we did! To all teams still competing, good luck with the rest of the season!

Hey 1708 -

Nice working with you guys and our Alliance Captain 128. I think from all the group photos we took together people must've thought we were the Champions!

Thank you for the kind words! We (the Control System Support volunteers) were glad to be able to help 222 and the other teams in Pittsburgh this weekend!
Two of us will be at Chesapeake and Atlanta with our team, 1511 - any of you making it to either event, stop by our pit and say hello!

I'll also echo that 1218's presence helping other teams was phenomenal. They did a fantastic job!

FYI, Eric and Jeff, two fantastic mentors from 1511 volunteered to come down to Pittsburgh to help teams there (just like they did at their home Finger Lakes Regional last week) - even though their team was not competing there.

These guys were everywhere, making sure WPAs were installed, software/firmware up to date and most importantly, working with teams to track down and correct their software, cRIO, DS and wiring problems. You could track their progress through the Peterson Center by the trail of working robots and illuminated students they left in their wake. It's people like them (and many others) who make FIRST so successful and such a great place to be.

Yay Eric and Jeff!! We love you guys, and now so does the state of Pennsylvania from Pittsburgh this year and Philly last year! :D

I hope Thunderplucker doesn't have cRIO issues in Annapolis, because you guys are bound to be too busy helping other teams :p

Congratulations to EVERYONE!!

After reading all these threads there was a ton happening while I was focused on the robots. Pete, Jeff and Eric were awesome as well as all the other teams that offered support in one form or another.

Hope to ALL of you next year.

1708 you guys had a really great defensive bot and we were hoping to pair up with you, but never got the chance. Best of luck to you!
