Wireless Issues
 

So, after many attempts at setting up the wireless (exactly as the directions say) I seem to have isolated a problem: the gaming adapter does not want to associate with the router. I've tripled checked the SSID on the router and that listed on the gaming adapter and everything is the same. The gaming adapter will cycle through all the channels, but will not associate with the router at all.

When I changed the router to broadcast on a specified channel the gaming adapter associated with it...but now I cannot access it at all, either wireless or wired.

Has anyone else had this problem? Or any ideas as to a solution.

This sounds like a problem we were having during setup--basically we couldn't get it to associate for several hours until we scanned with a computer, and it turned out the router had somehow configured itself to use WPA:ahh: :ahh: :ahh: There wasn't any mention of this in the manual, but we actually had to specifically turn the security off in order to get it to work

Chapter 5.6.2 provides instructions for configuring the DS-side router. At the end, the note says

"Note: the default settings presented here do not enable wireless security. If you share your
work area, you may want to enable wireless security on both the router and the bridge."

Are you sure that you didn't enable security on your router at some point?

There have been some discussions regarding Windows Vista and whether it might automatically tweak the router configuration. What OS are you using?

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

I checked the security and it's all completely turned off. We investigated further, this time after a full night's sleep, and discovered that if we directly connect the computer -> driver's station -> router, we cannot access the gaming adapter. But if we connect computer -> router, then we can access the gaming adapeter....

any more ideas? Do we just have a malfunctioning driver's station?

Oh and as far as OSes go, we're running windows xp, and mac 10.5.
Though we mainly stick to the mac, since it seems to have less issues.

I had the same problem and was able to fix it by resetting everything then hooking the computer to the router via Ethernet and then the router to the bridge via Ethernet and then reconfigured it

It was on a winXP system--our best guess is that when we reset the router to fix another problem it turned the security on.
