[FTC]: PTC ProE Part Files

I hope it was an oversight and that they plan on remedying the fact that the .prt files they have made available are incompatible with the other 2 major 3d players namely SolidWorks and Inventor. I see a lot of rhetoric on the net re: making conversion of ProE .prt files to SolidWorks an easy native translation?

Why make the student version different than what is available to professionals is in my mind counterproductive. Both other platforms give the best they got to education, in my opinion a very commendable perspective.

Why deny FTC teams that use other 3d apps the part models?

I hope someone from PTC could respond to this query.

We are trying to solve the problem with www.3dcontentcentral.com for all teams. First Robotics has its own category. Is there a particular model file you need. I have been taking requests. Most of the electrical, pneumatic and mechanical components are up there. Just let me know and I will help you.

Thank you for replying Marie.

We have been assembling for over 2 months and now find it frustrating unable to complete our designs due to the complexity of the nxt and lego parts.

We can contribute to the database with a model of the NXT motor gearbox with functional output horn but have a desparate need for the rest of the bits and pieces. Time on task is always a compromise!

I do alot of work with Pitso kits - most of the Tetrix metal parts are on
www.3dcontentcentral.com.

I know someone is looking for the motor supplied, but you have to tell me the actual manufacturer and part number of the motor.

All you have to do is log in - it is free, but seach for "Tetrix" or FTC to find your parts.

Let me know what you need. Marie
