gyro counting up

This is something that we've been having trouble with--when we plug the gyro into an analog input, and call getAngle, we get no meaningful signal, but instead basically a number that keeps counting up. The number isn't altered by actually moving the gyro about its axis, which means it isn't drift.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could cause this, or how to fix it? It should be noted that we are using a 2008 gyro due to our new one frying

Perhaps you've connected to the Temperature output of the YRS instead of the Rate output. They were badly labeled last year, with "R" for "relative temperature" and "T" for "twist".

Or perhaps that one too is fried. What happened to your 2009 sensor?

But I have to point out that the Yaw Rate Sensor/Gyro from the 2008 Kit of Parts was a custom part that year, is not (and never was) commercially available, and is thus not a legal part for this year's robot.

See http://forums.usfirst.org/showthread...5204#post25204.

Yes, some of them are mis-wired.
