Re: 2009 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)
I was very sad to see 1771 and 2753 get knocked out early, but the sheer fact that these teams were picked at IRI is a great accomplishment. On the other hand I was deeply impressed and happy for 222 and Winnovation's alliance. Definitly awesome to hear that they won and that 222 was a finalist with an amazing alliance.

Can someone post the awards from after Team Spirit? We had to leave early.

Re: 2009 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)
i had to say this was my favorite IRI. so how many people enjoyed Qualifying match 95?
we told people to be watching that match. our coach wore a UPS shirt(1675), our secondary driver wore a 217(thunderchickens) shirt, and i (main driver) wore a cyberblue 234 shirt, when we faced 980, 217, and 234. we did it as a fun little joke to see people's reaction. most people enjoyed the little switch up. If you saw that match, what were your thoughts on 1529's goofy fun attitude? it was rather funny me wearing a 234 shirt. my dad later told me a story how he was standing next to a 234 parent and the adult asked who in the world was "that kid" over on this [the blue side] of the field, and allegedly my dad just laughed and said "that's my son, he's on 1529" |
Re: 2009 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)
I thought for a second the Chickens and 234 were driving the robot. You guys managed to hold the alliance back for the first minute, which made things interesting enough that I promptly forgot about your drivers. :D

Re: 2009 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)
I just wanna say thanks to all the volunteers, without you guys this event could not have happened! IRI is my favorite event of the year! Thanks to teams 469, 68, and 16 for an awesome alliance!

Re: 2009 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)
I want to thank all the volunteers that made this event possible, most of them taking a fair chunk of time out of their summer, when they could be catching up on things such as life. (Wait, what? =P)
I also would like to thank 47, 254 and 45 for being such amazing alliance parters. We had a strong alliance, and we played really well together. We had amazing teamwork. Remember when we worked together to score a supercell? That was spontaneous, and well executed. I can't say I could have asked for better partners. It was a fun experience, and arguably one of the best IRI's yet, with many upsets. So finally, I want to thank every student, mentor, parent and robot that was in attendance, for making my last event of the year one I'll never forget. Also, I reached fifty wins in my FRC career as a driver! Yay! -Nick |
Re: 2009 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)
IRI 2009...... SUCH A GREAT EVENT!!........, with so many high hopes and expectations. When, through planning, hard work and a little luck they come true, the feeling is like no other. At this moment Winnovation team spirit is on top of the world. One of the great things about FIRST is that nothing happens alone. It starts with a collection of people, a team, and at competitions expands to alliances, a collection of teams, and beyond. It makes me feel great to have the opportunity to congratulate and thank all of the members of team Winnovation for what we have accomplished as students, fellow mentors, parents, family members, and sponsors. We couldn't do this without others. Beyond our team thanks go out to; Chris and Andy and all those involved in putting on the event, to our AWESOME alliance partners Truck Town Thunder (a productive scoring bot with few equals), Las Guerillas (one of THE best all around robots this season) and Bomb Squad (with help from their up and coming human player), with your great teamwork our alliance worked amazingly well together and handled everything thrown at us, from the best in competition from the other great elimination alliances to event glitches (those quarter-finals were....... aaughhh!!), and to all of the friends of Winnovation in the FIRST world, those of you who chat with our teams members on Chief Delphi and in other places trading ideas and information and giving moral support, so many friends, all contributing in so many ways to our team......traveling through life with gifts such as these is a joy! (now, to catch up from my sleep deprivation, you know, friday night scouting meetings till 2am......etc...etc...)
THANKS!! to you all and as always, see you at the next event! Scott Hill |
Re: 2009 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)
I agree with Scott, the Quarter finals almost had me as a twitching wreck, considering i was the Human Player and i wasnt the regular one...
and it was fun winning IRI with a student core with us of 4 students. heheh :yikes: |
Re: 2009 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)
First thanks to all the volunteeers that made the event run smooth even when the field didn't want to run smoothly. Thanks to our alliance partners 980, 111 & 135 for giving us the opportunity to play in the eliminations. IRI was certainly a great event and a great way to for our seniors to close out an amazing year.

Re: 2009 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)
This was my first time coming to IRI (and the Midwest!) and it lived up to its legendary status. The event is run extraordinarily well, better than some regionals I've seen. I only made the decision to come 5 days before, and it's all the people there who made me happy I did. :)
Congrats to 1625, 68, 16, and 469! You guys rocked it. Huge thanks goes to Chris Fultz who let me take pictures for the event without having signed up beforehand. And the same thanks goes to Heidi for letting me share that responsibility with her. I'm glad I walked away with a cool trophy too, thanks to the silent auction. Even better knowing the money goes to charity. The talent show was awesome! Between the acts and the judges' wry comments, it was a great show. Congrats to the winner, Erin Soutar- that song was phenomenal. And, of course, DSK rocked the house. Great mix of parodies ('Death Triangle' was hilarious) and regular songs ('Heartless' and 'Indestructible' were excellent). Event photos can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/1795759...7621809145595/ If you don't feel like browsing and want to see if I got a picture of your team, just search frc followed by your team number (frc33, frc980, etc). Everything is tagged provided I could identify the team. Thank you to everyone for making it such an unforgettable weekend, hopefully I'll see you all next year (or sooner)! :D |
