I really hope your magic carpet is a drive train with a flat platform on top covered by a large oriental rug. That's an awesome idea.

Calling Ben Nelson, Calling Ben Nelson... please have Albert ready so 1501 will bring magic carpet...

Well north east Ohio to Daytona Beach, Florida on family vacation took about 21 hours with the occasional stops for food and other 'business' and 23 hours to get to Huston on a bus back in '03 wasn't that bad. I am guessing that your trip will be be around 18-22 hrs. depending on how deep you are into Florida and how much of a lead foot your driver has :D .

Here's my crazy plan so far!
Work on Friday until X time.
At X time, head to the airport to catch a plane to LA - Los Angeles, CA that is, not Louisiana. lol
Jump on red-eye plane in LA at around 11pm California time, & head to IRI*, arrival time: 6:05am local Indiana time. - *sleep on said plane ride.
Be at the gym by 7:30ish, just in time for the doors to open - or darn near close to that time!
Stay over Saturday night in Indiana & head back home to CT sometime Sunday.

What is there to do in Indiana on a Sunday that would take about 3-4 hours of my time until a flight home btw???

Well, to continue to hype the stereotype -

You can sit and watch the corn grow,
Feed Pigs with Baker,
Milk cows with Ritchie,
Or eat something (just about anything) fried and then covered with thick sausage gravy.

Or you can go to the Children's Museum (largest in the world and awesome for kids and adults), the Indy 500 Museum and Track tours, The Zoo, The Eiteljorg Museum or the IMAX Theatre, just to name a few.

Personally, I would do the Museum or 500, but check the opening time for Sunday.

All you need is some sharks to stir up the waters!!:D But wouldn't a bus ride to Indiana take more like 30 hours? Jacksonville is like 7 hours, right?

I drive up to the tippy top of South Bend, Indiana(It's about 20 minutes from Michigan) and it only takes me around 20 hours.

If I remember right we had 1038 over the past two years (don't remember very well from '06) but I don't believe theyre comming to IRI this year.

Hmmm...

Team 2199 - LHS Robo-Lions will be applying this year (again.) Hopefully we'll be accepted this year. We have been a dominant force in 2 regionals and think we can bring some "game" to Indiana. We have been hearing about IRI from 888 since we started the team and it sounds like more fun than a regional and more "personal" than Atlanta. I for one am looking forward to a road trip this summer. Hope to see you all there!

Ummm... I don't know? If I were saying, no, but then again I didn't work on the robot this year. For once, I played spectator. :)

See you there then it sounds like,

Does anyone know how difficult to get accepted for an invitation.
2081 Has never attended before; we didn't qualify for Atlanta this year and we could only afford a single regional... What are the chances that we would be accepted granted that we apply early as possible?

The IRI committee does a great job in creating a well rounded field. I would recommend that any team that is interested in attending submit an application.
