We got power on at our shop last night and a few brave souls worked well into the night. We will be doing the same for the next many nights I am sure. Our FTC team was scheduled to compete in Texas tomorrow and had to cancel because of conditions here and mentors couldn't go off and leave families without power.

The school was closed Wednesday this week because of snow. We used to welcome snow days, because our build facility is not at the school, and we could get in many more hours of work. Alas, this wonderful state of being has come to an end. Thursday, our "landlord" informed us that they do not want us at their site on days the school is closed due to weather. If it's bad enough for the students not to attend classes, it's bad enough that they are not to risk traveling to the shop.

The teachers were always of this opinion, and such "bonus" build days were always considered completely optional when counting attendance. Now, though, they're gone.

Milwaukee doesn't get snow days as often as we get cooooold days.
And for UPS, we build at the one of the best shops in town. But its a school.
So we loose time for any weather days, or when bad behavior cancel's the school's after-school activities (oh, the perks of inner-city schooling).

We have not cancelled robotics any night but we have had a lot of girls not come because of the weather because of the fact that we do have a young team and not a lot of them drive!

This is our 4th season and today is the first time we have lost a day because of the snow. We don't mind because it doesn't snow like this too often in London but with 15 days left till shipping :eek: we could have done without it.

I live in Hawaii no snow :cool: hehe but know what snow is because of Vancouver:D but still lost a day cuz of wind and rain yeah it wasn't so bad:yikes:

Today was our first day lost all build season, I guess we've been dodging a few bullets so far.

Winter is really weird this year, we barely have rain here... so we have plenty of days to work but no motivation or knowledge XD

For some reason, in the 12 years of our existence, the BeachBots have never had a "snow day". But in some previous years we have had "movie days", where a production company would move into our old build facility for a few days. We could not be there during the actual filming. A few lucky people were around once when the pyrotechnicians were doing a rehersal. I'm told it was quite spectacular.

Oh, you wimps. We got two whole feet of snow yesterday alone and still had a meeting...

This is how many of the Canadian teams feel, when we hear about school's closing in the states for an inch or two of snow. Granted, much of the time we don't get 2 feet, but 6-8 inches is a semi-frequent occurrence, and we take it without so much as flinching.

Our team shop was closed with no power and half the team was snowed in. That equals 5 days gone.
