Sharing a program with other users on XP.
Hello,
I am using Windows XP. I have a program, oddly enough it's Google Chrome. I downloaded chrome on the administrator account, and the program does not show up on the other accounts. I set chrome to be accessed by the other users in the Set Program Access and Defaults Menu, but it still doesn't let the other accounts use chrome. |
Re: Sharing a program with other users on XP.
Chrome, by default, installs to a subdirectory of the %userdir%\appdata\local directory. Because of this, you would not be able to allow other users access to the program, as appdata is protected from access by other users. I know when I first installed Chrome, if I ran it as an administrator(in Vista), I had the option to install it for all users. However, they have since changed the installer(appears to be using ClickOnce now), and I'm not sure if that has an "all users" option. I would recommend uninstalling and then reinstalling, looking specifically for an "install for all users" option, and see what happens...
