Driver Station S.O.S.

Ya our driver station is messed up. When we attempted to do the benchtop test it didn't even go through its boot up sequence it just sat there with a blue screen. No symbols or anything on the screen, just blue.

WHAT IS GOING ON

Re: Driver Station S.O.S.

Make sure your driver station inputs are not going from +5 volts directly to ground. this will short it out and will be stuck at that screen. Try unplugging the power source and then unplug all of the inputs. once you have unplugged them all, plug your power source back in and see if it will boot.

You could try reflashing the DS as mentioned here:

Solved via overnight shipping (Andymark).

Hi I'm from team 306 we have a problem with our Drivers Station, Ethernet port 2 of it is broken and I need to know if there is a way to work around it or if we are going to have to get another one.

You only need one working ethernet port on the Driver Station, but you do need at least one, so protect it.

Just connect the Driver Station to your router and anything else to the router.

We've gone through our share of DS too. Try plugging a short male-female Ethernet cable into the one port still working and plug your extensions into the female end. The ports on the DS seem to fail after being wiggled too much from attaching/detaching Ethernet cables.

If your DS is actually toast, try the Virtual DS Dave Flowerday created:

http://www.pier13.com/projects/frc/virtualds/

CD Thread: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ght=virtual+ds

Many people have found it very useful when they need a Driver Station but don't have one handy (or don't feel like buying another).

Re: Driver Station S.O.S.

Thanks guys I'll try the router thing and if that doesn't work I'll just use the Virtual DS but will there be a new driver station for veteran teams this year if the router use doesn't work?

Yes, all teams will get a DS next year. It'll actually be a small computer (the Classmate PC).

I hope the A/V guys get creative and play the Jeopardy waiting theme when someone has to reboot their Classmate PC.

What, they won't come with D*** Small Linux on solid-state drives? We'll have to WAIT?

Re: Driver Station S.O.S.

We had the exact same problem on our DS. so i decided to open it up and see the problem, the ribon connector was loose, so I reattached it. As well the Ethernet Port was torn off and must of been disposed, so now im looking for a replacement. Hopefully there are replacements in the KOP.
