Get Alliance VI help!

In Labview 8.5, there is a driverstation VI called Get Alliance VI, which gives us our alliance color and our position on the field. My question is: for position, it gives us 1, 2, and 3! Which number is which side? is 1 left? and if so, whose left? Am I speaking gibberish?
