Human Ball Thrower QUESTION!

Can the human ball thrower hold the balls before the match has started, even before autonomous mode?

And the Human Ball thrower CAN throw during Autonomous mode right?

Re: Human Ball Thrower QUESTION!

The Payload Specialists cannot touch the moon rocks until the match officially begins.

You can shoot during Autonomous Mode.

In an effort not to open a new topic:

All 3 specialists may throw balls?

Re: Human Ball Thrower QUESTION!

Re: Human Ball Thrower QUESTION!

The specialists in outposts could also use empty cells. it probably would not be a great idea, but it is possible. remember that empty cells must go through the shield, and not thrown over.

It's a fine point, but the Outpost Payload Specialist could also throw super cells. It probably won't happen much, but it's possible.

I agree. I see them used about the same amount as the spoilers in 07.

I am a bit confused by your post, there are no super cells in the outpost. if you mean moon rocks, then you are correct, but there are no super cells, and empty cells would need to go through the shield.
please let me know if i misunderstood your response,

Re: Human Ball Thrower QUESTION!

The outpost payload specialist can throw moon rocks over the outpost wall at anytime (autonomous or teleoperated). Empty cells can only be passed through the port hole in the outpost. Throwing empty cells over the outpost wall is a penalty <G21> and <G24> (I guess the GDC wanted to make sure this is known to be a really bad thing to do).

I doubt the outpost payload specialist will ever handle a super cell. It can only be introduced (without penalty) into the field from the fueling station in the last 20 seconds and then would need to be delivered to the outpost only to be tossed back into the field before the end of the match. That's just not going to happen...

Was there anything ever in the rules or updates or more so the Q&A (which I haven't gotten a good chance to follow as closely as I would like to this year) clarifying if a Payload Specialist in the corner could pass a Payload Specialist in the Outpost a Super Cell by throwing it to them directly? (As difficult as that may be, it's certainly possible to do)

I seem to remember that discussion coming up here on these forums & the possibility & legality of that happening a while back, but never heard anything else about it.

Just wondering.

I believe the rules/updates are silent about passing super cells as you suggest. It may be that the practicality of doing this with super cells is why there is no ruling thusfar.

Maybe in week #1, some brave team will climb out on this limb? (More power to them if they succeed !)

Thanks. Any input helps. I'll be waiting to see a team do this during the first week as well, or hearing more about it.
Maybe I'll suggest my Driver's (Commanders/Mission Control Specialists... whatever they heck they are being called this year... lol) ask that at the Driver's meeting during our first regional (week 2) just for kicks.

I know of a rule in place that a Payload Specialist can not throw any game object AROUND the wall at the end, but if a Payload Specialist can throw it OVER the wall, & to the Payload Specialist in the Outpost seat, then I wonder...

I'm going to go with practicality on this. You'd have to go around the end of the Alliance wall (penalty?--it is for moon rocks) or be very, very good at throwing over the Alliance wall such that the Super Cell a) bounces into the Outpost or b) lands within arm's length of the tied-down PS there. That's a hard throw!

Besides, of course, the (high) chance of a miss, in which case the Super Cell is placed on the field for anybody to pick up and score.

I still want to see someone ask the question, or better yet, attempt it, succeed, & shock & amaze the refs (as well as everyone else). :D ;)
