Got Robot Shirts?

Help support entrepreneurs in Africa and get a cool robotics shirt at the same time through Team 1646's Precision Guessworks (RED) project.

Team 1646 and myself have been working on various shirt designs these past few months and have now opened our online store. All the proceeds do not go to our team, but to help support entrepreneurs in countries in need through Kiva. Kiva lets you lend to a specific entrepreneur helping them lift themselves from poverty. Through giving these entrepreneurs an opportunity to do well with their businesses, they will be able to support their families as well as gain a new incentive to take care of themselves and live longer lives.

Every other week, a new shirt design will be added to the online store.
Here are examples of some of the shirts available right now: (And there are more where that came from!)

If you have a design that you think should be on a shirt, PM me with your
design and email address.
* If your design is chosen, you will receive a free
shirt of your choice, credit for your design, and a feature on our website all
in addition to knowing that you are helping those in need in other countries!*

Take a look at our online store at http://www.precisionguessworks.org/ under the (PG)^RED tab at the top.

Happy Almost Shipoff and don't forget to check the online store every other week for new designs!

The 02/17/09 shirts could also be aimed to people excited about the transition to digital television!!!!
(If it actually happens on that date, & doesn't get delayed that is! lol )

Nice designs Monica! I'll have to bookmark this thread & see what's in store in the weeks to come.
I like the Team Kamen & Team Flowers ones the best so far.
(They nicely counteracts the Team Edward ones a lot of females friends of mine wore late last year around November/December... :p)

They actually did postpone it until June...The new administration felt the old one rushed into it and didn't help the population get ready for it fast enough.

Team 1646 mentors and students came up with great ideas. Ryan Dognaux and I went around and asked what shirts FIRST kids would like and were able to come up with those designs. Happy to see you'll be checking the store more!

Side note: Girls, cute designs will be up soon, and may feature the cute orbit ball you can see in my signature. And guys, definitely more designs for you as well :p

What does the small print on the Denim T-shirt say?

I cannot read it on the website.

Not to burst your bubble, but those designs are, for the most part, just text [granted the Kamen/Flowers one had a little more].

I would suggest to make this more successful to spend some time with graphics. Do what most fraternities and sororities do and modify them[You're a Tridelt so I am assuming you know you know what I'm talking about]. (Example and Example)

And sure being original and creative is good, like your orbit ball picture on a shirt, but if you're going to do something plain, I would think about the above. And I'm not saying take the logos for face value, but make them your own. Rebrand TEAM logos. Instead of BMW logo use a FIRST Team's logo and play on that.

Pavan.

I know that the designs are just text, but think of the shirts being sold today with one liners and catch phrases. Just as Elgin mentioned, "Team Edward" shirts are practically a staple now on teenage girls, and that shirt is as simple as a black shirt with white text. And quite honestly, anyone who knows me to be the one time prospective fashion major or have seen the previous shirts I have designed, I'm all for graphics. But when it comes to budget, simplicity, and versatility to a wide range of consumers, one phrase comes to mind, K.I.S.S.

Re: Got Robot Shirts?

I'd urge any of you who are thinking of purchasing a shirt to please do so and to help spread the word! Not only will you get a really cool and high quality shirt (all shirts are being screen printed), you'll also be helping fund entrepreneurs in Africa create a better life for themselves and their communities through Kiva.

Here's how it works -
  • Credit cards are Processed through PayPal
  • T-shirts are made at Freckles - here in Lafayette, Indiana!
  • Our team packages and ships them to you
  • 100% of our profit's are loaned to individuals on Kiva
  • These individuals use the money to start new businesses in Africa
  • Once these businesses succeed, they return the money to us so we can fund more entrepreneurs in a continual cycle of success.

Microfinancing is proving to be a very effective way of reducing poverty and your purchase of a (PG)^RED shirt will go a long way.

So now you've just got to ask yourself one question.

Team Kamen or Team Flowers? :]

Just an update, we moved our store to

http://pg1646.spreadshirt.com/

and LOTS of new designs, I have personally put up seven more shirts this week. For all you Mark Leon fans, I have two designs that will definitely be appealing to you. :) Additionally it's been my project to start adding Women's shirts with a customized placement as well as brighter (and cuter :P ) colors.

Please continue to support Precision Guessworks Project Red, we have a long way to go to reach our goal donation to those in need through the Kiva program.

Check back every other week for new shirt designs!
Hope to see you all this season, and best of luck! ;)

I personally am not a fan of either of your examples and would rather have one of the 4 simple, clean designs that Nica posted. Call me new fashion, but I like my shirts to have simple, classy designs, not cheesy imitations of popular logos or designs with too much noise (Example).

Not an attack on you, just arguing in favor of Nica's designs.

Edit: Woot, just purchased a shirt. Thanks guys! I can't wait till it arrives.

Re: Got Robot Shirts?

Seeing that we have been selling quite a few of these shirts lately, I wanted to be able to take pictures of FIRSTers wearing the shirts in Atlanta! It doesn't matter which shirt you bought, I'd like to take a picture with and of you!

Who else would be better models of the shirts than other people in the FIRST community! It will probably be taking place right after the webhug at the exact same location, be sure to meet in front of the huge FIRST banner!

Seeing that I only know how much we've sold but not who purchased them, feel free to post which shirt you will be modeling for me :)

If you have any questions, let me know, and of course there have been many new designs posted including the newly added:

Enjoy! If you have any more questions about the shirts, sizing, designs, or the picture taking, let me know! Hope to meet you all in Atlanta!
