Has anyone ever...?
Alright, just out of curiosity, I want to know if anyone else has some team members who bring in tv shows/movies during build season (or at all).
The programmers on my team are OBSESSED with South Park, and although once in awhile during a short break, I sit with them and watch it, I can't help but feel as though they waste a lot of precious time. *sigh* Oh well, I've tried to convince them otherwise, but what are you gonna do when its one website coder vs three programmers. :) It's all good though. Thankfully, things are running smoothly for the programmers. Does anyone else have members who do this? |
Re: Has anyone ever...?
I'd be grateful it was the programmers. Also, I got to say no to the bringing things in. I don't think I've ever had the time to watch something like that at a build site. Usually, everyone finishes, and then they leave and watch tv at home. Also, South Park is ok, but I'd avoid having it on school computers/tvs. Some of the school's admin might not appreciate their equipment being used that way.

Hmmmm this happened one time last year when a kid on my team Mike bought in Battle Royale and we watched it whenever we got a break, which wasnt very often.

Attendance at our build sessions is totally voluntary, so if anyone there wants to play a video game or watch a tv show, etc., I tell them to go home and play or watch to their heart's delight. Just don't distract those who are working on the robot.

Re: Has anyone ever...?
Well, I'm glad you guys understand. I didn't mean to be rude - at first, it was just once in a blue moon, and I had no issue with a short break. I know I get tired after 2.5 hours of straight coding, so I didn't mind. But then it was everyday *sigh* And then they began to distract other people who were in the middle of something important....
We've been lucky that we were a little ahead of schedule, but after a certain point, it's just not fair to our team - and then mentors who take the time out of their lives to work with us, ya know? I apologize if I sound whiney or selfish, btw...I just had to let it out! |
