Electrical Tape?

Our team is wondering if we could use electrical tape on the robot, but not on electrical parts. We were thinking maybe using it to cover the corners of lexan sheets. Is there any rules against using it this way?

Are there any rules on adhesives, other than not getting them on the playing field?

There are no specific restrictions this year regarding the use of tape on your robot so your proposed use should be OK.

I know that in previous years you wer not allowed to use any tape except electrical tape but you could only use the electrical tape for insulation purposes and nothing else

Going through the parts use flowchart it seems tape is legal this year. Wierd....does that mean teams can actually use the "fix all" duct tape this year? :yikes:

And do previous years' rules apply this year? Nope. Not unless they are quoted word for word in this year's manual.

Technically, you could have had duct tape on your robot in the past if it was only for decoration purposes.

we used silver tape on our loading system where we had a really thin and sharp piece of aluminum flashing, just to cover the corners and edges

In previous years we have used colored electrical tape to outline the cutout in the lexan for our emergency off switch. Check the Q&A for a definitive answer.
