so i know this is a dumb question but can we have a laptop plugged into the driver station for the purpose of a self made HUD and such

Yes - check out the Dashboard application. You cannot, however, send data to the robot from such a system during competition.

ok i know i asked this before but i'll ask again sience this is already started. I looked at the program and couldn't figure out how to build the program or save it or anything like that.
