Team 11's 2009 Robot

We stuck to our roots and kept it simple. Improvements will be made as the season goes on, please let me know what you think. This is the result of what we think the perfect student-mentor partnership should be. Almost all is designed and fabricated by students. Autonomous tracking is working well....our team is good with cameras (if you recall 06). We are fully debugged and had driver practice for the first time for the first regional.

This is a great simple design. I love how you guys kinda do things differently. I love how the wheels are all modular and the use of lexan everywhere. It's a cool looking bot and should definitely be a strong competitor this year. I really hope we run into each other in Atlanta although it would be nice to be on the same team this year.

Well if MORT 09 is half as cool as his control panel, you guys should be doing pretty awesome this year!

p.s. Can you please make the door on the control panel do the door open/close sound effect from Star Trek TOS?

The modularity of the wheels is great for adapting the drivetrain to unforeseen field blemishes (which hopefully won't occur anywhere) and just the fact that repairs and replacements will be quick and easy.

Haha, Q, there's actually a vid of the robot driving for the first time on vimeo. And maybe I'll add small speakers to the control box...:P

I like it.

It's come a long way from when I last saw it. How'd the conveyor turn out? I remember the belt kept walking around, did you fix it?

Yup its fixed for the most part. Our students played around with it for a while until it was getting too close to crunch time, so our mentors and an engineer from Siemens gave a few suggestions. Its alright but we'll need to readjust every now and again.

Looks completely beastly. Can't wait to see it run around in NJ.

GO MORT!

Also thank you very much for the pre-season help, it really help us get an idea of what an FRC team should run and look like.

Thanks man, the hopper and dumper are comprised of various thicknesses of polycarbonate sheets ranging from 1/16" to 1/2". The structural stuff was done in 1/2" and machined out by hand (yea that was tough) Even the ribs of the conveyor shoot are hand machined.

Don't be fooled, 11 has a much more insidious plan (http://www.flickr.com/photos/3483014...n/photostream/)

In all seriousness, I like it, it is clean and looks well done. Hopefully we can teach Akash to take a picture and we can get some nice shots of it in action. :)

I do like how open the electronics are, will make servicing anything nice and easy. Best of Luck.

Another awesome entry from 11. Sorry I wasn't there for rollout, but I wouldn't miss your regionals for the world.
