Match Schedule

Hey,

I was wondering when the match schedule for the Traverse City District event in Michigan was coming out? The reason I ask is because team 904 is going to use it for scouting purposes. Thanks for any help.

My guess would be Friday morning sometime, that is typically when they do it at other regionals...

Match schedules are made at the events. For a normal competition, Thursday afternoon/Friday morning. For MI, probably about the same timeframe.

Don't make knowing the schedule an integral part of a scouting system. You should be able to fill in team numbers and match numbers at the event, on the fly.

We don't have a Thursday in the new MI district events, we do have a few hours Thursday night to get inspected. We don't have a full practice day so i would guess, on the safe side that, Friday morning before the qualifying matches start.

Re: Match Schedule

As I recall, the field cannot be running at the time the match schedule is being created. Last year the score table had to skip lunch on Thursday to create the schedules for Fri/Sat; they were copied and distributed to the teams on Thurs afternoon.

This year practice is scheduled to run from the time the pits open at 8:30 on Friday until the opening ceremonies at 11:00. Seeding matches then begin at 11:30. So I imagine the scorekeeper will have to create the schedule either very late Thurs night or very early Fri morning. Just another example of how the volunteers in MI will be working overtime to get the district concept to work, for the benefit of the teams.

Ooh, sorry I didn't realize the timing was different for the MI events :o

But having the match lists on Thursday has been the best thing to happen to this scouting director since TBA. It makes me happy just to talk about it!!!

I'm with you Meredith, getting the match schedule on Thursday is amazing! Being able to work on match strategies Thursday night is wonderful. I don't even want to start talking about how bad things get when we receive it friday morning.

Sadly the rules still say "(9.3.1)....The qualification match schedule will be available on the second morning of the competition."

I hope we continue to get the match schedule on Thursday.

True and not true this year. No skipped lunch, but the match lists will be out during the afternoon.

Citation?

Just as nastobor said, the manual is pretty clear on the issue. That said, I'd LOVE to get a match schedule on Thursday, even if it is as we're being shoed out of the pits at 7pm by the voice from the ceiling.

Two FTAs have said that they can do it. The manual says that it will be available on the second morning, not that it will become available on the second morning.

Re: Match Schedule

For the past 2 years (except at Championship in 2007, that was a debacle about getting the schedules) every event I have been to has released the schedule on Thursday.

Re: Match Schedule

Again he is asking about the Traverse City District event, where we don't have a Thursday practice day. We have a time slot from 6pm-10pm where we can go in and get inspected and set up our pit, and if we're lucky get some practice time on the field with other robots on it as well. SO i would say that we will get the match schedule Friday morning, Qualifying matches don't start till 11 am anyways so everyone should have plenty of time to get anything you need to do with the match schedule before qualifying starts.

Re: Match Schedule

The reason that I asked was because Team 904 is going to have one of the most organized and efficient scouting teams in the history of F.I.R.S.T. (I hope :) ) ! Anyways, thanks for all of the help. Hopefully I'll get that list ASAP when we arrive at Traverse City. Thanks again!
