In the first quarterfinal at FLR, what has to be the most epic stragity of a 8th seed against one of the best robots of the 1st seed. Red Alliance's 188 goes off to take over an idle robot and goal by one of the Blue Alliance's human player stations. 188 goes over to drop off 4-5 moon rocks, and all of the sudden the other two blue alliance robots attack 188 from behind, pinning them in and scoring from both robots plus the human player...this happened really late in the match before the other red alliance teams could come back. The match went to the 8th seed.

Had to be the best stradegy of FLR. I can't wait to see if we have video of it.

As much as I hate to say it... the best co-ordinated stratagy I saw was during our semi-finals match in Boston.

61 and 1099 had our robot pinned to the far wall while 190 just kept on making dumping runs into our open trailer. I think our teammates were also tied up on the wall, so they couldn't do anything.

I have to say, it's a nice feeling when all the robots want to stop your robot because it's so good. Haha.

If there is video, this will probably be the best match from the first two weeks to study. It will be of interest for teams with all ranges of robot abilities showing examples of both what to do, and what not to do.

Most every team wants to go out there and show what they've got. Sweep balls, then once you reach a reasonable capacity find the closest stationary target to unload into. Not a bad strategy most of the time, and we spent the entire qualification round doing this, with a fair amount of success.

This match will demonstrate just how dangerous it is to do this with little regard for field position, time left, position of other opponents on the field, and super cell distribution.

As part of rookie team 3015, I was really proud to be part of that match and contribute to that win. We were really stacked against it going against that unbelievable alliance with two rookies teams. We knew we couldn't win with pure scoring, we had to think of something and targeting 188 was our best option. I remember us being down by about 14 with ~15 seconds left and thinking we were done, then I saw 188 pinned in a corner with our human shooter going crazy, sinking shot after shot and our robot scoring and watching our numbers go up. We by about 4 points, it was insane. Even though we lost the next two matches, that one match made my day. Were not going to Atlanta but this was one event I'll remember forever.

1622 Spyder was doing their best to push 2543 off of 968, but then the two best offense components of the alliance are basically out of the competition because of the one pinning robot.

At Traverse CIty finals, someone threw a moonrock [who hadnt had a good time throwing that match] and tied the game!!!

Kettering had an incredible squeeze play by 65 and 2771.. 65 uses their auton to drive over to the payload specialist and fill up their hopper, so they had a completely full bot as well as 2771 with their initial rocks. The two of them jumped on 33 the instant teleop started, pinning their trailer between the two of them.

At first it was ust an impressive pin in the middle of the field that completely locked down 33, until you realize you have two very full, very efficient dumpers in perfect position. The poor Bees had a completely full trailer within the first 10 seconds of teleop.

I really hope that the matches get up on TBA, it's a play that every driver/strategist needs to see. Ken maintains it was luck.. I disagree ;)

In our last match today we were playing with 1515 and 1644 against 4, 973, and 1323. We gave an empty cell to 1515's HP at the beginning of the match. With 20 seconds left there was nobody nearby to score on. With about 15 seconds left team 4 gets close enough and 1515 and ourselves pinned them between us and 1515's HP shot the supercell, but missed with 10 seconds left. It lands a little bit in front of our robot so we go to pick it up and we get it with about 7 seconds left on the clock. We turn to aim at team 4's trailer and shoot it in from 3-4 feet away with 2 seconds on the clock.:ahh:
That was definitely the most exciting match so far.

You saw the L.A. buzzer shot one right? Blue "home" fueling station to red trailer, half-court or so and right in the middle, at the buzzer. I don't remember if it changed the match or not, but I will go on record as saying that I saw at least one ref cheering the shot. Plus half the arena. It was sometime after lunch, maybe mid-afternoon. I don't remember the teams involved.

I missed that one, but I remember Team 40 making a couple half court shots in Manchester.

I think I missed your robot scoring the SC. I was probably about to head for the blue outpost and get the bins onto the field for reloading.

I felt our Team 48 drive team contributed to some great plays in Pittsburgh:

1. Pinning 291 the entire match.
2. Watching our payload specialist BOUNCE IN a supercell from half court to win a match.
3. Watching an empty cell delivered with less than 10 seconds left, then watching our PS grab it with the tongs, hang the EC, and pickup, throw, and make a supercell shot with about 1 second left. Unfortunately, it didn't make a difference in the final result, but that's about as clutch as you can get. Watch out for Anthony in CT and the ATL! :)

I'm not sure if this is under everyone's definition of great plays but in SVR in the finals 852 had 1280 pinned pretty much through the entirety of all the finals matches.

Florida regional quarter finals match 1
179, 1649, 233 vs 501, 1345 and 238.
we dumped on i think i was 238 and just as we dumped our basket, 1345 dumped theirs on us, it was really cool looking, and I really hope someone got a picture.
Also the entirety of that last match was awesome and will probably go down as one of the best of the season.
