Re: Great Plays of 2009

There was the quarterfinals where the platypi(2655) didnt work for some reason due to a dead OI and us and 832 were able to tie the number 1 alliance in the quarterfinals
Then there was another situation in which both 1746 and 1771 where able to pin us on either side during auto mode and rock our life with moon rocks
then there was match 1 of the finals in which our main breaker had problems and we shut down and 2655 and 832 were able to win the match
that was absurdly good driving on their parts

I'm going to second your first one. We were 8th seed facing the once thought unbeatable 1st seed alliance of Otto (1746) and Global Agenda (1771), and we had a dead Drivers Station, and due to having amazing alliance partners still managed to tie.

Another is in the final round of the finals, we were up 30 with 15 seconds left, and the human player from one of the teams on the other alliance scored a super cell on either 2415 or 832 from across the whole field, it was amazing. We still held on for the win though.

At the Florida Regional, I forgot which elimination match, but a human player threw a Super Cell from the alliance station wall, missed completely yet it bounced right into the goal!

QF Match 1-2, the 8th seeded alliance threw the super cell in the last 5 seconds I believe and got the bounce on one of our alliance partners. I didn't see it (little focused on driving our own robot) but I certainly heard the yell from the crowd. I'm waiting for the video of that to be posted.

I just posted a pic of 848 pinning team 399 at the LA regional during the elimination matches. It was an incredible pin and they were able to shut 399 down for most of the match.

LA Regional, match 13, 973 and and 399 both come at a trailer from opposite ends and unload, filling the trailer.

It looked a lot like 254's demo video with both of their robots.

It was pretty awesome.

Rumor has it that 67 won a match where they were essentially the only functional robot taking on 3 functional robots (supposedly 2 no shows on HOTS alliance). Can anyone substantitate that rumor?

I'd like to nominate the L.A. SF1 series and L.A. finals. If you want some tough plays, I don't think any of those were decided by more than 4-6 points. SF1-1 was a tie.

Its true, Cass Tech match #25. 1 v. 3 when two of our partners didnt show up.

Plan was to move the empty trailers to safe zones that our human players could protect.

247 attempted to slow us down with some defense, while 2137 scored in the empty trailers.

I was told (by Copioli) that our shooter unloaded about 5 balls in one of the empty trailers, when he forgot they were for our alliance....so we were lucky to pull it out in the end. :yikes:

I'm surprised they didn't devote 2 (or 3...) robots to pin you ASAP. Good job dealing with the adversity.

florida regional-Qual' match 50.......

when 945 and 1557 pinned the "ninjaneers" at the outpost station and had them for about 20 seconds unloading 1557's hopper and 945's basket untill 1902 came over and started shooting...........

It wasent the most impressive match, but definitly worth watching again......

The buzzer beater that EricH was referring to at the Los Angeles regional was team 848. We pinned 399, but were still down and needed a super cell for a chance. What a great shot and it was fun to hear the crowd cheer.

I've got to say that watching that was my favorite moment on Friday. Friday the 13th, 13th match, amazing play. The Tinman and Raptor were an amazing team that day.

In a Q47 of the Chesapeake Regional, teams 40, 1719, and 287 were allied together. In autonomous, 40 rockets across the field and smashes into 1719, causing 1719 to get caught on the 40 robot.

We thought 40 was done for the match, but the coach for 40 stood between 1719 and 40 and coached both of them. To our disbelief, the two robots began moving around the field as if they were one robot! 40 was able to collect balls and score, while 1719 was able to avoid being scored on by the other alliance.

This, coupled with 4 more-than-half-court shots IN A ROW by 40s human player drove them to a WIN!

In a qualifier match at the Orlando regional, team exploding bacon was pinning team 79 krunch the entire match with its big blower fan because they were afraid to let the beast that is the krunch bot out of its cage...
in the last 10 seconds of the match bacon released its strangle thinking the game was theirs, but alas, krunch goes and while picking up balls on the way swiftly scores a full load in the last microseconds of the match sealing the deal for our alliance!

WHAT TIME IS IT? - KRUNCH TIME!!!!
