[quote=Aren_Hill;834016]care to fill me in on what will break? seriously?lol

2 cims on 4wd drive single speed... 2 cims on a conveyor.....and 6 pneumatic cylinders.
(we've only toasted cims once, and that was under very interesting circumstances that cant happen with this drivetrain)

we had one issue at midwest with a bent pnuematic cylinder, and that was because of how we started with the 7 balls on the pistons in auton, and yeah we dont do it that way anymore.

2 vics 2 jags and a spike

simplest bot we've ever made, nothing complicated, nothing extravagantQUOTE]

You never know what will happen. We didn't expect the bot to malfunction last year, but it did. It is completely fair to say "unless something breaks". Granted the odds of something breaking are low, it is still very possible.

I wouldn't necessarily say there will be a drop off between 1625(us) and the rest of the bots, but more of a different level of strategy. The whole entire game this year relies more on the strategy of the alliance/team. From what i hear 1732 played defense practically the whole day Thursday at MW and for the most part shut down 1114 in those practice matches. Also from what i gathered in the quarterfinals of MW the #8 alliance changed their strategy after the first match. They effectively changed it because they caused the big upset of beating 71, 1114, and 1000. Our strategy played out very well for us at MW and hopefully it will do the same at Wisconsin. I think its fair to say that every robot has its own weakness.

I also want to say look out for 2039. They improved greatly over MW and should be considered a threat. 1732, 2022, 2338 are good bots and should be watched. My opinion for the top 8:

1) 1625
2) 2039
3) 1732
4) 93
5) 171
6) 141
7) 1024
8) 2022

Yes, that is true we played mostly defense on Thursday, but that was due to some mechancial problems (which we fixed). I would be suprised to see us play that much defense at Wisconsin, but we can if needed.

I still think you guys (1625) are a step ahead of everyone in scoring ability. I know that our robot can't compete against you guys on pure scoring speed and effectiveness. From the teams I've seen (not counting teams like 93, 171, 1736...), I don't think anyone at Wiscosin can (while midwest teams like 1114, 217, 111, 71 and maybe 135 could keep it close enough). You are correct that strategy is crucial. Knowing that we can't keep up moonrock for moonrock against you, we will need to come up with some different strategy, possibly super cells or defense.

If we get the opportunity, we can hold 40+ balls, and dump in 2 seconds. Winnovation has a more accurate, and cooler looking mechanism though.

Woooh!
Wisconsin regional was awesome last year!
Gotta say, we seeded 56th outta sixty last year, so we can go almost no place but up. Good luck to everyone, and hopefully you'll see us in the top 24!

And... at least we won't have to remove 19 lbs in three hours this year. :)

I don't see anyone down in the archiving thread to record this regional. Does anyone have the capability to do this? I would be more than happy to do all the parsing if someone could record it and upload the videos somewhere I can get to them.

This would be a huge help to me as many of the teams from WI will be coming over to Northstar in Week 6.

I'm not sure the regional is set up to be recordable. I contacted them to see if we could record the matches for scouting purposes (and later for achiving if no one else did it) and I was told we weren't able to. I was told that there is a new set up and they couldn't even do a webcast. I wouldn't take this as gospel, though.

I will be there, and I have a few parents that are willing to do some taping. We for sure wont get all of them, but It could help, We will be taping anyway for scouting purposes!! This is all obviously just if it turns out that they allow videotaping :(

If you need to see me, I will be in the Team 1716 Pit most of the time on thursday!!

Team 167 is excited to attend! On behalf of the whole team, we wish everyone a fun, safe, and exciting regional, and knowing Milwaukee, I'm sure it will be. We think we'll be able to improve from previous years. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the robots!

Well, thank you for the compliment. :D I can't wait to see how you guys do this weekend. Less than 24 hours until the pits open tomorrow!

I will be taping the matches tomorrow for archiving, just as I've done the last two years. I wasn't sure if I would be able to, but I have to go old school with the VCR to do it this year since my computers are out of commission. Parsing may take some time, it sounds like I have some people willing to help.

Re: 2009 Wisconsin Regional

Great! Thank you!

If you do need help with parsing I will gladly do it if you can get the video digitized and put up somewhere.
