How many robots have scored Super Cells?
 

How many teams have done this?
Just trying to get an estimation of how common it is.

Payload Specialists seem to be scoring them more than Robots in most cases.

We scored a Super Cell with our robot in NYC at least once & tried another time but a trailer was too full.
Lessons learned for future competitions... ;)
For us, it was a lot easier for the Payload Specialist to hand off the Super Cell to our robot who made the score, than just shoot it halfway down the field into a moving trailer.

Have you seen any robots score the Super Cells at your events?

Thunder Chicken scored a couple of super cells at the Midwest regional during the quarter-finals and semi-finals.

I saw 27 try several times at kettering, but I did not see their robot score a supercell (not that it didn't happen). I did see 2771's robot score a super cell with their robot in the QF at Kettering. It was literally the last second of the match, they bumped into their opponents trailer and the cell popped out.

We preferred using our human player. He was in the top 4 for accuracy at kettering and made several last second shots. Currently he is more accurate than our robot, but that should change at the next competition. 65 also had a human player that made a ton of clutch shots.

1918 scored a couple in traverse city. but they stopped as soon as we pinned them to the wall. also Rush (27) gave one to the robot and another to the human player. I've seen Rush score it a couple of times with the robot. I believe that it depends where the traffic is at the end of the match will determine where you put the super cell in a robot or a easy shot.

Our HP is pretty clutch so we let him shoot the SC's. At Traverse city he only missed 3. 2 were in the same match because the other alliance saw he had them and they all ran to the other side of the field. He still almost made both, only missed by a few inches or so each time.

I know 20, 27, 217, 1918, 2199, and 2771 have. Likely a number of others as well.

I'd say a little over half of the Wisconsin Regional matches involved a Supercell.

It seems a lot of teams have incorproated some sort of belt reversal / empty cell conversion as a "cop out function" on their robots; something they add in case their manipulator fails or the strategy calls for something different. Robots designed with the empty cell in mind that are quick and mobile, able to convert most or all of them in under a minute, will score themselves a great niche on alliances, especially if the robot can do something with the Supercell once it's in play.

971's robot scored one that had been activated by the opposing alliance in the semi-finals at Silicon Valley.

As far as I know it's always been legal. I've seen it happen since week one.

As with any ball, you have to throw it into play, but there's nothing stopping a robot from picking it up.

team 2194 Fondy Fire scored them like crazy almost every match in the semi finals and finals in Wisconsin regional.

In Chesapeake we saw plenty scored by the HP's. Especially in the elimination tournament, ACtually, the final was decided by a last second super cell score by the corner HP on 1185 (i think that was their number),

I saw a team attempt to put a SC in their robot one time but by the time they had gotten the robot to the corner and gotten the super cell in it, they were too far away and our of position to use it (The faced into the corner and the HP rolled it out under the station, and then a robot from the other alliance pinned it in that position. The bot then attempted to push the SC back into the HP's hands so they could shoot it into the pinning bot, but time ran out)

I think that it's probably better to just let the HP take the shots with the SC rather than wasting all that time trying to get the SC into the bot.

Team 1507 did it a few times af FLR. They drop it in their robot soon as the clock hits 20 and they quickly track down a nearby opposing robot and drop it right in. They got pretty good at it.

As said, 217 would feed the supercell to their robot, and I wouldn't be surprised if simbotics starts taking on that stretegy too.

Although, when we were allianed with 111 and 1625, Raul from 111 (congrats on woodie flowers, by the way) wasn't focused on super cells at all. So I think some of the high score-ers aren't worried about super cells, or atleast untill Atlanta.

During BMR qualifications, 111 changed thier strategy from midwest a bit. They focused much more on empty cells and super cells. It looked like they picked up an empty cell in auto mode and then they scored a couple of super cells with their robot. It was pretty fun to watch them score a super cell in the final seconds.

1741's robot scored two super cells in one match.

Our team fixed our aimable shooter to shoot straight down for the boilermaker regional, then we were able to get 2 empty cells per match, then use our robot to pick up the supercell, one match we scored both, couple we scored one, and the rest we ran out of time or were blocked. We ended up #3 seed : )

I saw quite a few teams do it at Peachtree. I know that we picked them up a lot by accident. By the time we realized usually it was to late, so I don't think we actually scored any of them.

At BMR, both 111 and 1741 scored super cells either from missed payload specialist shots that hit the floor or from super cells tossed directly into the robot. Usually, this happened when multiple robots were in a cluster near a driver's station.

At Kettering I noticed that 27 became very successful at scoring supercells. It wasn't until Lansing however that they adopted the super cell as a strategy. When we played with them, I noticed that their entire goal was to get as many empty cells into the hands of the human players as possible. At the 20 second mark they would take one or two super cells and feed them to their robot through the airlocks. Then they would attempt with their robot to score the super cells and all the while the PCs would have super cells at hand ready to throw.

Team 27 has their robot score many of their super cells. It seems to be more effective then having a human throw it. Some dumpers have also been loaded up with them then they dump them.

We scored one down in dallas during a practice match on thursday but never managed to get the execution down for any matches that count. It's definately a feasible strategy though.

1742 did it during a practice round at dallas. i threw it in the hopper and we shot it over a robot and into the trailer. it was a moving bot not a dead one. just wanted to see if we cound.

At lansing, i saw RUSH (27) score on a few occasions, i also saw 1918 (NC Gears) score a missed human player shot. I think i remember seeing 67 (HOT) score one too, im not sure on the last one though.

At the start of this competition season, I was eager to see a robot score a supercell, but I never had the chance too. Although, this last week at Philly I saw 809, don't quote me on the team, almost score a super cell with their robot. There were three seconds left, and if you gave them at least a half a second more, they would have deffinately scored it.

I am told that my team, 395, scored two Super Cells at once in Q10 at Philly; unfortunately this was the one match I missed as I was helping prepare our Chairman's presentation...

In our first quarterfinal match, team 2839's human player threw a super cell that bounced off the edge of an opponent trailer before landing right in their pneumatic launcher, which they triggered to fire the cell into a trailer. It was very cool.

in the last 5 seconds we picked up a missed supercell off floor, flew across floor to get up against team 1's trailer. match ended with the ball so barely still in roller coming out that we pushed robot and ball fell out..... so dam close! but so epic lol

I know 234 scored one at BMR with their robot in the last couple seconds of a qualification match, but I'd say their human player scored many, many, many,...,many more supercells, including a match where 2 were scored in about 5 seconds.

This has always been legal. Its always good to read the rules yourself rather than listen to "word of mouth" rules.

During one of our qualification matches (Q 46) at the Chesapeake Region, we (Team 836) picked up a SC that a HP had tossed, moved to the end of the field and scored it as time ran out. It was the winning shot, too!

Scoring the supercell was a major strategy at NASA/VCU Regional
Sparky scored at least 5-6 supercells (2-3 with the robot)
I remember one match were we scored two consecutive ones with the robot :D

1391's robot, the Metal Moose, put at least one super cell into opponent trailers during the Philadelphia regional.

Video of 1519's supercell shot can be seen on the video archive of Granite State Regional match #51 at http://www.thebluealliance.net/tbatv...nh/nh_qm51.mp4 The supercell is scored with 3 seconds left in the match. Unfortunately, the video doesn't show the supercell going into the trailer (only the central pole of the trailer is in view of the camera), but it did!

In Troy, HOT 67 shot a supercell from their robot, missed, picked up the rebound, shot again and made it.

2415 scored a super cell as the buzzer sounded in the finals match at Palmetto. It was the difference in the match.

2075 (enigma) has a pretty accurate human player and today at west michigan i dont recall how many he made but all i know is he is accurate and so is our human player we made one in at the same time as another team

In our last qualifying match, we had 207 pinned in the corner. We threw the super cell into our robot, with our dump rolling, and the super cell went straight into their trailer. It was a pretty cool play, but almost impossible to set up.

I've seen 188 score super cells 2 to 3 times at gtr.

610 has scored one also.

It seems to be a better Idea to just throw the super cell.

Our secondary driver claimed he didn't know a super cell was in there, and was just shooting all the balls out at the end hoping to get some last second points :D

in one of our Elimination matches, 175 Buzz scored a supercell as the buzzer sounded, thank god they were on our alliance!

At Cass Tech, our human player scored one super cell, then 217 scored another one with their robot in the closing seconds to seal the deal in the 2nd Finals Match. Result: District Championship!

At Troy, 217 scored two supercells at one time to seal the deal in the 2nd Finals Match.
Result: District Championship!

So watchout for 217 in the closing seconds of a match, they just might be carrying a supercell and they are deadly.
