This coming from a team that adapted their empty cell holder 4 times during a regional.

how come one ball would always get stuck at the top of the screw lifter and not go up into the hopper?

I believe that there is a 90% chance that you are thinking of the wrong team. And a 10% chance that I'm going crazy, because we don't have an empty cell holder...?

(Unless you didn't mean to refer to *my* team)

Having not seen this design in person I can only make an educated guess. Originally that ball would have been pulled out of the top of the spiral by the shooting wheel, but once that wheel was removed the only thing that forces the balls out of the spiral were the balls beneath them. Such, the last balls were stuck.

Good question. Because there was no way to get the ball up there and stay there without being over weight due to the fact that we had a shooter on it before. We were at 119.8 lbs so we really don't have a whole lot of weight to play with. And 1 ball out of 15 on average that we scored per match isn't much. To say the least, we were happy with the change, considering we were undefeated.
