That is one of the most awesome things made of paper I've ever seen.

Agreed, this is win. Can you post an Instructable or a white paper on CD-Media on how to do this?

The module is Tomoko Fuse's open frame 2. I can't seem to find the instructions online. I'll scan them from my book next time I'm home. I can also scan in the sketches I did when planning the shapes out.

I love the phizz units and the whole 3d thing. I thought about that, but it would have been too time consuming/unstable.

Wow! Cool! :yikes:

That took time I'm sure... but it was totally worth it.

Did you come up with the design of the basic unit you used to make the solid? Or where can I find how to use this method?

Cool!

This reminds me of another cool interpretation of the FIRST logo. Actually a couple.

One, was a metal FIRST logo hanging from above Einstein field back in 2002 & 2001 when FIRST was at Disney, and was made with a very similar cross welded metal structure (but on a much larger & much heavier scale of course.)
(I swear I'll track down a pic of that & upload it one of these days here on CD)

The second, was the water-jet cut FIRST logo at IRI this past year that was a part of the charity auction.

If you go to IRI, be sure to make another one of these for the charity auction!!
I would bid on it! (If I go this year)
Way cool!

It's a unit from Tomoko Fuse's book, "unit origami" (I think). The unit is "open frame 2". The book is fantastic, in fact it's my favorite; I highly recommend it.
