Robo-Prom 2009, Final Details

Robo-Prom 2009 Final Details!

This year Robo-Prom will be held at the Omni Hotel in the CNN Center from 7:00pm-11:00pm on Thursday, April 16th.

We will be located in the Dogwood AB room located on the M1 Level of the Hotel in the North Tower.

Tickets will cost $12 pre-sale, and $16 at the door.

If you would like to pre-order please email team399@gmail.com and let me know how many people you have coming, and your team number. You can then pick up your wristbands and pay at our pit on Thursday (we're bright orange and we have a backdrop of the Emerald City from The Wizard of Oz in our pit). If you pre-order you can also just pay and pick up your wristbands at the door for the pre-order price, but we suggest picking them up at our pit to avoid a long entrance line at the event.

The cost of your ticket covers the rental of the event space, DJ, water, and punch.

We will also be having a contest for Prom King and Prom Queen! Last year our winners were wearing outfits made out of track balls! You can wear a creative outfit, have the best dance moves, or do just about anything else that stands out in order to win. We have no guidelines to winning this award!

Dress is semi-formal (cocktail dresses for girls, slacks and collared shirts for boys).

(sorry I made a new thread, apparently you can't edit your original post after a certain amount of time. .)

Expect 10-15 super-excited Dawgma people to show up...I will email you with an official number. If we are pre-ordering tickets do you need the money in advance or do we give that to you guys in ATL? :yikes: :yikes:

It's easiest if you just give it to us in Atlanta. Give us an email with the official count, and your team number, then when we see you in atlanta tell us your team number, and we'll check that you pre-ordered, then exchange wristbands/money.

Looking forward to seeing them! =)

We will have both of our advisors and two of our mentors there, and some other teams are bringing chaperones. So while we don't need any chaperones, if you have an adult that would like to come they should feel free to come free of charge!

Don't forget to tell other teams in your area or anyone you are in contact with! The more people we can get to come, the better!!!!

Team 176 should be going. Many of our members who attended last year are excited about showing up again. :D

We weren't sure if we wanted to travel all the way to the Marriot, seeing as we moved to the Omni this year, but then I read the post tonight and I'm like, "Yes!!!"

I'll get numbers on Wednesday for Aces.

I have a suggestion. How about name tags for everyone with team #'s so that when I walk around, I can put a CD name to a face. ;)

Team 341 will most likely be attending. Our student leaders are very excited about the idea of going. We are going to survey the full team and get back to you.
Thanks for making this opportunity.

Re: Robo-Prom 2009, Final Details

I forwarded the Robo-Prom announcement to our team as soon as I had approval from the teachers to offer them the chance to attend. Unfortunately, with Kokomo schools' Spring Break falling this week (with a coincidental local Delphi shutdown), many of the TechnoKats are out of town and I won't be able to get a good count of interested students until April 13.

When is the latest we can e-mail you with numbers of people coming? It's hard to find out while on Spring Break (as Alan said), and it would be nice to know if pre-order means next Wednesday, or sometime this week.

Thank You.

No problemo! As long as we have an email by 6:00pm California time on April 15th we're good!

Can we nominate people? Perhaps a drop box at the event for nominations / votes. I'd be down for nominating Miss Libby Kamen

14 girls from team 1868, The Space Cookies, will be attending. Myself and one other adult will be chaperoning. A rsvp from the team president should be coming soon.

I'm curious, what's the total number of pre-orders so far?

How many people do you expect to attend?

I believe there's only around 60 + our team pre-ordered so far (so 72), but there are lots of people with tentative preorders just waiting for official numbers.

Last year we had around 200 people at its peak, and this year we are expecting around 300 people to show up. Hopefully more. The more we get, the more fun it will be, guaranteed.

So tell your friends!!

Yes, but email us before hand with an RSVP letting us know how many people are coming.

If you don't email it will be 16$ per person, if you do, it's 12.

Thanks!

Our school prom is tomorrow, Good Friday. That makes back to back Friday's of chaperoning our students at a prom. This one should be even better!
I didnt go last year but my wife and students did.
Is there a section for the "chaperones" to sit down and talk story? I aint much of a dancer.:o

Absolutely, adults and chaperons will have fun too. My students will make extreme fun of me if I attempt to dance. In past years, I have had a lot of fun meeting and chatting with the students when they take a break. So, students bring your mentors and parents and maybe we will show you a thing or two!

Hmmm, wonder if I remember that Thriller dance... Will have to watch a video or two before next week... ahhh the 80's were sooo much fun.

Re: Robo-Prom 2009, Final Details

Just a reminder to everyone attending the Robo-Prom: Please keep in mind that you really should complete your inspection on Thursday, before you leave to go back to the hotel to get ready for the prom. The inspectors are supposed to discuss the robot with students, not with the adults you left in the pit. And a student needs to be present to sign the inspection form as team captain. Last year we had some teams where all the students left and there were only a couple of mentors in the pit late Thursday.

Thanks!

See you in ATL!

I think this is an awesome idea, I'll talk it over with the team, but I think this will probably help make the selection.

More than likely we'll have a drop box in the front~

You can still pay at the door, and if you plan on doing that you don't really need to email me and let me know how many people are coming. I do warn though, that currently I have 200 people RSVPed, so while the chances of this happening are slim, there is a possibility that the hotel won't let over a certain number of people in the room (about 400 maybe? I'm not sure). So I would pre-order if at all possible.
