Super Cell discrepancy

I have a few questions about super cells-

1. If a super cell is thrown into another trailer before the 20 seconds, and makes it, does it count as 15 points?

2. If a super cell is thrown into the crater before the 20 seconds, then scored by a robot during the last 20 seconds, does that count?

Both are penalties, therefor a highly unfavorable idea.

In all honesty, I wouldn't even think about touching the super cells untill the 20 second buzzer rings.

In both cases the Super Cell would count as Scored. If I remember correctly you get 20 points in penalties for introducing the Super Cell early. So realistically you still end up with a net lose of 5 points.

Yes they count for the 15 points. However if a supercell enters before the 20 sec mark you get a 20 point penalty. So it is not a good idea to enter a supercell early.

Kind of off the topic here, but has anyone thought of/ tried the strategy of avoiding the G14 by throwing a super cell in and missing on purpose if you're really outscoring your opponent? In theory, you'd get the 20 point penalty and it can't be stopped (like scoring on your alliance can be). There is a lot of deviance between the "real time scoring" and the actual score. But if RTS says you're up 90 -30, for example, I think this could be an easy solution to the G14.

Greg, G14 is calculated pre-penalty so this would not be a viable strategy.

Thanks for that specification because I was given two different rulings on that at Florida. We had two separate matches where they did different things, so it's good to know.

if there's a discrepancy, bring out the rulebook!

the judges cannot dispute the rulebook.

Why would they have reason to? They don't need to know the rules. Their job is to evaluate the robots for awards.

The refs, on the other hand, have to carry the rulebook in their heads. After all, they have to determine if a robot breaks the rules during a match.

And yes, the answers to all three questions asked so far are:
1: Yes. <G23>
2: Yes. <G23>
Please note that both 1 and 2 carry a 20-point penalty under <G23>, for a net of -5 points.

3: Won't work. <G14> specifies pre-penalty. (This is one of the later updates to the rule; I'm using Rev F of Section 7.)

we actually ran into that at troy our human player(freshman) threw in a supercell to early and made it and we ended up losing 50 points and the match by 10 points

I'm guessing you're using a number pad and meant to hit the 2 directly below the 5. If not, and you did lose 50 points for that, there was a gross failure of the system.
