So, is anyone doing anything new and exciting to their robot for The Championship?

816 has some tricks up their sleeves....

2992 has a few aces too. We plan on changing a few gear ratios around so that we can score faster. And we also plan on changing the angle on our turret to shoot directly at the trailer instead of dropping the balls in. We should, according to our math, be able to score at least 50% more than what we have been doing.
I'm looking forward to competing. Its been a few weeks since I've even seen our robot... :(

We have made some changes. I'll get a picture of our modifications tonight. They are cool

The Skunks have done some slight alterations on our swerve/crab drive. We added a different type of encoder that allows our software algorithms to work even better and make us even harder to track down and gives us even better maneuverability.

This could be fun...

Good luck to everyone else on Curie!! We look forward to making new friends and having a great competition.!!

Cool, Oddly enough we're probably going to slow down our Scoring mechanism. It's so fast that we actually have the tendency to Jam up a bit, still being able to offload 20 balls in about 3 seconds should be enough to get the job done, I hope. We're also going to fix our Accuracy issue too...

Re: Curie 2009!

We learned from last year.

last year, on Thursday alone we tore off our arm that we had re designed like 8 time and replaced it with a launcher that worked quite well

this year, with a hopper and conveyor system that can pick up from the ground and human player and holds 25 balls on average, a dumper that can pump balls out 2 at a time, a empty cell holder that works but we haven't had much use for, traction control that hasn't been giving us any trouble, and 8 functional auton codes that work in all of the positions; we haven't had much to twiddle with...

to tell the truth, the pit crew(including me) have been bored... if anyone needs help, come ask us(we are really easy to find, just look for our giant banner and flags hanging off of our tool box)
spare parts, tools, stock; we usually have it all:cool:

1771 has primarily just been doing code improvements, and getting in driving time and human player practice. Most hardware changes are pretty minor, only one that jumps to mind is some new heat sinks on our Fisher-Price's to help with overheating. We haven't had any overheating problems yet, but we don't want to start at championships.

As far as I know, we arent changing anything but our scouting.

I fiddled with the idea of a fan for a while... But I think extra practice time will be more worth it than messing with our entire robot Thursday.

Hopefully it doesn't come back to haunt us, not changing anythinggg..

We felt the same way, aside from swapping encoders we kept alterations to a minimum to get the most time on the field on Thursday.

Considering we only have 25 official matches of practice, and 217 has a whopping 67, I think we have some catching up to do.... I like our decision, hopefully it plays out well for us!

Same here. There was a point where I was going to add a Fan, An Empty Cell Mechanism, and A "Hood". Then I realized that'd that waste too much valuable practice and inspection time. So, I've simplified it down to swapping out a sprocket and adding a new toy. Both of which should only take about a half hour. My Goal is to be inspected and completed by Noon so then we can spend the rest of Thursday in the Filler Line for Practice Matches.

Brad, we should try to sneak in the filler line together if you have time. I wanna go head to head against you... When winning or losing won't matter. :D

We'll be in the filler line all afternoon.. Definitely, head to head when it doesn't matter sounds good to me. =p

Yeah us too, we generally play euchre in the pits nowadays :)

We aren't planning to change anything on our robot either from what I know, but our scouting definitely needs improvement.

Re: Curie 2009!

Curie is going to rock this year. We may not be the most talked about division (or ARE we?), but I've got a good feeling about this year and our division!

Team 188 is excited to be a part of this amazing group of teams:

Our division's best can match up with the best in any division.

We are deep, and will field 8 strong alliances, with scoring threats at all 3 spots in every alliance.

I think the alliance that takes this division (and eventually Einstein :D) won't necessarily be the three best "robots" on paper or by statistics, but the three teams that can buy-in and cooperate the best, and build relationships and trust that allow the alliance to execute some pretty intricate strategies.

Trust that your partner will roll a super cell out to your robot instead of taking the shot if called upon. Trust that your partner will drop what they're doing to break you out of a pin. Trust that when you pin sometime, your partner will come and punish the pinned robot that much more. And trust that your partners understand that preventing a SuperCell scored on you is as valuable as scoring one yourself.

Going through the list of teams in Curie, it's not only that there are "good robots," but teams that also really "get it" when it comes to non-robot intangibles.

I think this is where the alliance that comes out of Curie is really going to shine.

P.S. For anyone curious about 188's robot: Team 188 - Blizzard X - Video

Me Too!

i could just say im "Pit scouting" under deep cover, (not really necessary considering we have seen you guys at 2 competitions already...)

Everyone in Michigan got about that many matches...
my team in particular has had 61 so far...
its fun being the pilot program, the State championships where crazy considering each team there had already had about 24 matches to practice in and to work out bugs (good fun)
