Thanks all for the kind words! Especially thanks to out alliance partners 1218 and 2753. You guys were awesome! A special thanks to many all the other who helped us get there by encouraging us and helping us strategize. I won't begin to name numbers because I don't want to leave anyone out. The support from these people and teams meant so much to us and really showed what first is all about!

Great weekend! I wish we could do this stuff year round, but the cost would be too great.
Congradulations to the division winners. We had a great time playing with you guys. We knew we were in for some good competition when you took out the #1 seed.
Also thanks again to 488 and 118 for picking us, and being great partners. Our alliance scouted out the competition, and came up with some good game plans. 3 amazing machines.
I had a blast getting as far as we did, and was glad we turned some heads as the "dark horse". Our modification to the drive train worked well enough to exceed expectations.
To those GA teams that talked about hosting an off-season event, we might be game. There's also IRI, but I'm not sure about the money situation.
Thanks:)

C'mon....you know you want to ;)

Regardless...congrats again to 222 on an excellent season. I used to harass Henry constantly..."Always a Bridesmaid, never a Bride" not anymore for 222.

2753 and 1218 were also 2 amazing robots...the fact that you 3 ended up on an alliance together was almost unfair....almost ;)

For folks that said they didn't have a list of teams to choose from, they sure ended up with a nice bunch of partners.

Congratulations, y'all. It's about time folks were forced to stand up and notice how good you've been all along.

Thanks Madison. We honestly didn't have a list. We don't have a scouting crew per say. Everyone on our team is a multi tasker and there's no dedicated scouts. We had the same conundrum in Pittsburgh as well, however we learned to trust 1218's scouting. 1218 not only has a great robot but some great scouts to back it up.

Thanks Brandon!

Alright I've thought about it and we had friends from 103, 488, 816, 1712, 1629, 1743, 1923 and last but certainly not least a couple guys from 125 ;) helping and supporting us through our entire championship run. I apologize if I missed anyone, but Saturday is still a blur of excitement.

Congratulations to 222 our alliance captain from Philly, 1218, a team I've respected for a long time now, and 2753, the veteran I knew they would be. Hope to see much more of 2753's excellence in the future both on the field and off the field at our shop.

It's taken me a while to let everything soak in. Here are my thanks and congrats for our division:

1503
Thank you for having the confidence in us to pick us 2nd overall. It was a pleasure working with you guys and making a strong run in the eliminations. You're payload specialist was terrific and made it easy for us to switch our auto modes on the fly and still be effective. I can't wait to get to play with you guys again. Maybe we'll have to take a trip up to GTR sometime in the next few years  .

488, 118 and 343
Kudos for adapting so well against us. In all three semi-final matches you guys kept us on our feet. Not being able to see what 488 had in their hopper made it extremely tough to play defense against them.

2056
Watching you guys was an awesome site. You guys truly do have one of the best robots in FIRST this year. Getting a chance to play with and against you on Thursday was very fun. I can't wait to get another chance to play with you guys (maybe at IRI?)

1114
You guys continue to inspire me and my team. Even though LF has said that our robot was a 254 inspired design, we were originally inspired by the simplicity and effectiveness of your 2008 robot. When we started this season, we kept saying to each other that we wanted to create a bot that could play this game as efficiently as your 2008 robot. This year you guys showed showed us never to give up on a robot. You guys have adapted incredibly well from your rough start in Chicago to your strong finish in Atlanta. You're a poster child for the phrase 'The Robot Is Never Done.'. I too look forward to play with you guys in the near future.

222, 1218 and 2753
WOW! The fact that this alliance could be formed was ridiculous. These three teams had to be three of the most consistent scorers in our division. While they couldn't put up the big numbers like some, they were consistent.

Just want to let you guys from 1538 know that you were definitely my favorite bot in Archimedes. Incredibly efficient in your scoring and chasing down of trailers. The double row of balls streaming out of your shooter was a thing of beauty. Your record did not even remotely reflect how good your bot was. How you were able to intake so many balls with a narrow format chassis I will never know. In my opinion, Archimedes did not send its best bots to Einstein, partly because you were not there. I think 1114 made a critical mistake by not picking you first. 1114 and 1538 together would have been an unstoppable combination.

Re: Archimedes 2009

Jeff,

Thanks for the kind words. It took a ton of practice to be able to pick up balls as well as we did. Between pinning practice, 2 minute drills and other maintenance work we spent a lot of time getting our drivers used to picking up balls. We pretty much ran our practice robot to the point where we couldn't run it anymore.

Really, it's tough to judge a team in 7-9 matches. Especially in this game. If I were in 1114's position I don't know if I would have picked us. We had a couple of matches where we didn't play our best and I'm sure that left a big question mark in terms of our consistency.

Even if 1114 picked us, who knows if we could have beat 222, 1218 and 2753. One thing this game has taught me is that NOTHING is guaranteed. No matter how good your alliance looks on paper. I've played in matches this year where it looked like we should have dominated, but barely squeaked out a win or even lost the match.

Re: Archimedes 2009

Hey guys I am wondering,

According to the FIRST rankings we went to 3 matches in semifinals, yet... I know we played 4 matches.

The first one was a tie (82-82) and the second one was a loss according to the score showed on the screen, we then won the next 2. I was wondering if FIRST reports ties in official rankings or if by some chance they messed up the score on the first one when the real score was 82-112 like bluealliance is reporting for the first.

Its just confusing me, so I am wondering if that is normal.

The FIRST scoring system treats ties like they never happened.
