Maybe that's why the bumper rules are so ridiculous this year.....

I have to admit, very strange layout. I'm used to the practice fields being on either side in a row rather than a column. It looks as if we're gonna be packed in there. And unfortunately for us, Newton is the farthest away this year. :(

Upon further review ....the family is back together.... see below for the big map.
FLL and FTC are right next to us AND FLL judging is just down the hall (not in another bldg like last year.)

Now let's have some fun... as if we wouldn't no matter what the circumstances...
I can't wait...

Newton will be closer once inside the dome, and Archimedes will be farther away. It's their way of making things fair.

It looks like they are in the same room.
The FTC pits seem to begin where the car show did last year.

The map appears to be cutoff, so I imagine FLL can't be too far away either.

I heard FIRST tested this year's field in their basement and had the columns going through the regolith. Maybe we'll be reusing those original practice fields. Waste not, want not.

I don't think so....I printed the map in greyscale, those violet colored rectangles don't show up, but (what I believe are) the columns do show up, there are 12 of them.

Ah, yes, that's right. They've already omitted the pit spaces where columns interfere. Whew. :)

Our robot hits things hard and is frequently not concerned whether it's friend, foe or structural column. :)

Madison,
I believe those are floor pockets rather than posts.

And Mark,
I know of an Army audio installation in which a structural post came up in the middle of the audio console. Stop by and I'll explain that one.

Signal Corps....no explanation needed :)

(yes, I spent several years working at Ft Huachuca, with frequent TDY to Ft. Gordon)

Found it.
FRC and FLL are right there with us.

although the two maps have reverse orientations. Nether one believes in the North up standard.

Then you'll feel almost at home with that column coming up between the inspection stations won't you. :)
I've worked in theaters built that way...

Did you know that there is two seats in the Milwaukee baseball stadium that are behind a post? They are called the Bob Uecker Memorial Seats and cost a $1 each.

Only 2?? Over at Williams Arena the benches for the student section extend behind the posts and students can often be seen sitting there. The Metrodome also has quite a few seats behind the support columns, beware of any tickets that say "obstructed view".

Are you talking about the purple rectangles??
My guess is that those are power drops.

The plus shaped gray entities are the columns.
