thanks everyone :)

Re: 2009 Championship Pit Map
If I'm seeing this correctly it looks like the pits are layed out different than than they have been in the past.
It appears there are more "columns" now instead of long rows. |
Re: 2009 Championship Pit Map
Is it me or does it seem like there's less walking room than the last 3 years, particularly around the inspection stations? Must mean there's more to do and see :D

Re: 2009 Championship Pit Map
yeah. to me it seems like archimedes has moved. Last year wasn't archimedes in the place that curie is in now?
|
Re: 2009 Championship Pit Map
Last season, the size of the pits was diminished to accomodate damage to the facility from that tornado and, one assumes, because the World Congress Center was trying to rebook and accomodate as many of their bookings as possible.
This year, it appears as if we're stuffed back into the same small space; maybe FIRST knows something about the weather that we don't. |

Re: 2009 Championship Pit Map
Definitely a tighter squeeze for FRC than last year as rows have been turned 90 degrees elongated and confined to hall closest to the dome and less room around the practice fields too...expect more shouts of "ROBOT COMING"!

...which, upon closer inspection, have columns right in the middle of the field? Really? |

Re: 2009 Championship Pit Map
I have to admit, very strange layout. I'm used to the practice fields being on either side in a row rather than a column. It looks as if we're gonna be packed in there. And unfortunately for us, Newton is the farthest away this year. :(

Re: 2009 Championship Pit Map
Upon further review ....the family is back together.... see below for the big map.
FLL and FTC are right next to us AND FLL judging is just down the hall (not in another bldg like last year.) http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles...EFT_CORNER.pdf Now let's have some fun... as if we wouldn't no matter what the circumstances... I can't wait... |
Re: 2009 Championship Pit Map
Newton will be closer once inside the dome, and Archimedes will be farther away. It's their way of making things fair.

The FTC pits seem to begin where the car show did last year. The map appears to be cutoff, so I imagine FLL can't be too far away either. Quote:

Our robot hits things hard and is frequently not concerned whether it's friend, foe or structural column. :) |

I believe those are floor pockets rather than posts. And Mark, I know of an Army audio installation in which a structural post came up in the middle of the audio console. Stop by and I'll explain that one. |

Re: 2009 Championship Pit Map
Found it.
FRC and FLL are right there with us. http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles...EFT_CORNER.pdf although the two maps have reverse orientations. Nether one believes in the North up standard. Quote:
I've worked in theaters built that way... |
Re: 2009 Championship Pit Map
Did you know that there is two seats in the Milwaukee baseball stadium that are behind a post? They are called the Bob Uecker Memorial Seats and cost a $1 each.

My guess is that those are power drops. The plus shaped gray entities are the columns. |

Re: 2009 Championship Pit Map
Anyone know when numbers will be assigned?
I like knowing where our pit is going to be.... =) |
Re: 2009 Championship Pit Map
The pit numbers were not posted last year. There was a large panel just outside the entrance to the pits with the pit layout with numbers. Look for it Wednesday night.
