Re: Your Team's Dream Alliance
Hmmm...for Breakaway I would like no specific alliance because I hate leaving teams that do have the same aspects that I will mention not be mentioned.
One bot would need to be a great 3rd zone defense player and a stellar kicker. The other bot would need to be an all-around player who can successfully kick balls either into the near zone or score. From there, we could either strike in the near zone or play with our deflector. Both should be able to hang as well. I really didn't care about the specific partners but if the team can do those then we definately want you :D ! |
Re: Your Team's Dream Alliance
For breakaway I'll take 469 in the mid zone for obvious reasons. 67 to start in the far zone then move to the mid zone to get all the balls in the cycle. And of course us in the near zone doing what we do best, scoring any misses and flipping defenders (gotta love double drive trains).

Obvious 469 alliance: 2791 cleaning up in front, 469 mid, 294 playing defense and scoring from the back zone. Avoiding the obvious "1114 and 67" and trying to come up with some partners we actually could have had at regionals: 2791 in front, 230 midfield, 20 in back. On paper, we initially were aiming for an alliance that had a solid back autonomous that could either defend or clear balls depending on the need, and picking up a front zone cleaner in the second round. Then we made a strategy change when our kicker was never up to snuff and became a frontzone "striker", seeking a solid midfielder with the first pick and a "3-and-D" with the second. |
Re: Your Team's Dream Alliance
I would have,
801 in back defending, 79 in the midzone shoveling and hanging, 1557 up front plowing. It worked great at Florida until we broke down :( |
Re: Your Team's Dream Alliance
I would want a good looper, like 469, in the middle. That way, they could funnel balls to us. 469 specifically would be good because they aren't easily moved from their position. For defense, that's harder, because the robot would ideally be able to kick from long range, cross over bumps, have the ability to hang, and be able to keep up with the offensive robot. I can't think of an particular team that fits that description right now, so I'll leave it at that.

Re: Your Team's Dream Alliance
1519: Mid/far
1718 or 1086: Near zone being amazing as always 2337 or 79 (494 and 70 are also close behind, but cannot hang but are still amazing mid zone bots): Redirecting, hanging, and moving balls forward. I know that 469 is not listed as a mid zone robot party because I feel that either of those 4 plus 1718 or 1086 in the near would do far better! Yes it is a gamble but it would make for an insanely high scoring match! |
Re: Your Team's Dream Alliance
As a team with a deflector/looper bot and suspension bot, I'd really like some hangers and scorers, somewhat obviously. And since we're in Michigan, that opens us up to a bunch of realistic dream alliances. But this is what I'd like to do:
Near bot: 910, The Foley Freeze. They're a great scorer - genius scorer, actually - and they're always great fun and great friends! They're an easy pick. Middle bot: 2337, us/EngiNERDs. We can deflect, suspend, and move balls pretty well - good enough to feed 910. That leaves a last, far feeder/maybe defender bot, someone who can clear a bunch of balls to us and 910, and then finish them off. Ideally, we'd have a hanger who could suspend off of us here... but none spring to mind. So: Far bot: 1114, Simbotics. They've always been a team we've admired, and they can move, score, and hang (but not with us). The three matches we've had with these two teams have been Kettering qualification match #38 w/910, MSC qualification match #88 w/910, and Curie qualification match #84 w/1114. Scores: 12-2, 19-5, 10-1. Bring on the competition! |
Re: Your Team's Dream Alliance
217, 1676, 1086
217 playing near zone, 1086 in the middle, and 1676 hoppin back and forth helping control the mid and put away goals. |
Re: Your Team's Dream Alliance
Personally, I liked our Alliance from Oklahoma City Regional. Team 1987 in the back clearing balls, 935 playing midfield, and Metal Mustangs (2410) playing offensive and doing what we do best.
I know that most people would love to be on a 469 team, and I would to, but we played with them at Champs, and we didn't really have much to do. All we did was put in what they missed, and keeping the defender busy. Not exactly the super exciting job we usually have as striking. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy =) |
Re: Your Team's Dream Alliance
I think I got my dream alliance...294, 67 and 177! Our robots and strategy completely complimented each others and we all knew instinctively what we needed to do next.
