FIRST logo gif?

Hi,
I'm currently working on the basic design for my team's 2010 website during the summer and have a question concerning the FIRST logo. Would it be against the logo standards to take a jpg of the logo and convert it into a transparent gif to be placed on a gold background on the site? (The color can be seen here www.team2655.org) I looked through the logo standards guide provided by FIRST and the only thing I found relevant was the part which talks about placing the logo on a busy background.
I've looked through several threads concerning the FIRST logo guidelines and have't found the answer to this question.
Thanks! :D

The logo guidelines are on the FIRST site.

You can also contact them directly if you need a clarification.

The comprehensive guide found at the link above has examples of the logo on certain background colors, one of which is very similar to your 'gold' color. So use the logo version they specify and you should be good.

I would also recommend that you take a logo from the "For Print Spot" zip file rather than use a jpg as your basis.

The jpg has a bit of noise that doesn't come out as clean. But the zip files contain .eps files which can be read by several graphics programs, and are already formatted for single correct (spot) colors.

Plus the for_print files already also have transparent backgrounds (at least in the software I use). You will just needed to resize (shrink) them to what you want and save_as to get good quality GIFs and PNGs.
