Re: IRI Predictions??

Hahahaha!

Time to see who wins the prediction game:

Barry is 4/4 in QF, 1/2 in SF, and 0/1 in F.

Novi Hopper is surprisingly good, with two of the teams in the elims on the right alliances, 3 correct alliances in QFs (though not in the number of matches), both advancing alliances in the SFs, and the right alliance winning. Hey, Looking Forward, I found one of your assistants!:p

Winnovation seeds 1st, picking the HOT team and nabbing Global Agenda Gamers (1771) for their 3rd pick, and goes on to win the event, beating the Cheesy Poofs and Simbotics in the finals (unsure of their 3rd partner, possibly DeWALT).

(those were my predictions before realizing that IRI was going on as I typed this ahaha)

BTW, Barry was spot on in the QFs.

Predictions for SFs:

1 and 7 (7 is the only one to win with 2 straight, and 3 is a little tired from a 4-match set.)

yes we where tired... i was having a bit of a nervous breakdown (i was playing as human player and im usually in pits during the season...)

stressful but fun, that's how i would describe it

I think that is the beauty of IRI. Students have the opportunity to step outside of the box they put themselves in, mentally, and touch other facets of their abilities/attitudes/hidden-even-from-themselves talents.

Off seasons are a great time to explore, experiment, experience, and express. It is very cool.

Just an .02

thats my favorite part about the offseason my team (1529) and 829 host. We call it CAGE Match. Cards And Goats Exhibition Match. It is a low key event much lesser than IRI. only around 24 teams. The first CAGE was last october and there is another CAGE Match coming up this october. Whats great about offseason events is you can have fun and try your best with out the stress or worry of trying to win. (there shouldn't be stress at a regional either!) But offseason events make it easy for people new to robotics and FIRST to see what is it about. I have noticed at off season events people are at more ease because of the low tension and therefor open up to people. 1529 is going to mentor a team this upcoming year and a few of their new members came to the IRI. The event gave them a great chance to see what goes on at a FIRST competition.

only downside is, if IRI is your first event, the boiler maker regional is slightly boring :D

4. In retaliation, Dave will do his best to embarrass Paul at some point (setting office fires may be a workable theme, but I'm just guessing here)
4. Baker's cult following will reach fever pitch, while Fultz will remain under appreciated ;)
5. Karthik will do something very unique to embarrass himself at some point (and most hope it won't be singing)
6. Raul will look excited at field side at least once (or twice, or ten times)
7. The talent show and Dean Simmons and the Kamen's will be MUCH better attended than the drivers' meeting
8. Fishboy (He'd better be there. For those who disagree, you just don't understand :))
9. MOE will take the field at least once without a battery and/or the robot turned on (sorry Dudek, but that one's for you :))
10. JVN, after a bizarre electrical storm creates an unexplained force filed, will leave the event with a full head of hair.

Carry on, have fun all!!!!

Most of your predictions were spot on. MOE did have a battery for every match (but make sure you ask Dudek about the match where the shooter motor was unplugged), and although I didn't see JVN at the end, there were no electrtical sotrms so hair probably didn't appear.

And on another subject, we really enjoyed having Petra from Dawgma as a temporary MOE member.
