Re: New game clue from Bill's Blog
A few nights ago I dreamed that I was at the 2010 kickoff. The game piece was a section of PVC pipe, about 5 feet long. There were two of them, and each was hung vertically from the ceiling with a cable. The bottom of the pipe was about 5 feet off the floor. Just the right height for Dave Lavery to hit his head on! Maybe it wasn't a dream after all - maybe it was a vision...
Unfortunately, I woke up before I found out what we were supposed to do with the game pieces. Maybe it was a "capture the flag" game. |

Re: New game clue from Bill's Blog
it cant be some thing we can hit are heads on, because its not safe.
now about hitting his head.... maybe its his face or something as the target. |
Re: New game clue from Bill's Blog
Im guessing that Dave may have gotten his head stuck in something . . like a fence . . or a hole( like Winnie the Pooh)

Re: New game clue from Bill's Blog
Well, I went looking for inspiration, and Googled "Head".
The first hit was a site called HEAD.com a racket-sports supplies site. One of the first things I noticed was that there was a logo near the bottom affiliating it with a site called coolearth.org. As it suggests, it is an environment conservation site. In another thread I read, people were suggesting that the game would have something about going green. Maybe it's up to the engineers of tomorrow to come up with ways to save the environment and protect our planet? Other looking-too-far-into-it ideas about this site- There was a mention from Bill earlier to ice cream- Head and the linked company Tyrolia sell winter sports stuff- though only ski/snowboard There was a link to PENN who makes racquet/tennis balls (also a eco-friendly company) Game pieces? And- because I have to do it- the final link was to Mares, which does diving. Do I need to say it? Well I will anyway- WATER GAME!!! I have too much time on my hands...;) |

You all are COMPLETELY overanalyzing this. It's really quite simple. I figured it out the first time I read it.
Next year's game piece is Dave Lavery's head. |

And the rest of the Pooh story is that they made Rabbit lose weight so that he could get his head out of the hole! Maybe we will all be judged on our ability to lose weight during the build season! Or have the robot lose weight during a match! (Hey, I can be as ridiculous as the next person! :) ) |
Re: New game clue from Bill's Blog
I woke up one day this summer (coincidentally enough, right after the GDC met in July) with a thought about this year's game.
Now, we know from last year that the GDC tried to find a relatively inexpensive and easily obtainable game piece. We also know that Tetras (2005 game) and the Track Balls (2008) were about 8lbs apiece. So I pondered what common item is readily available and 8lbs or less ... Then it hit me: a bowling ball! :ahh: |
