We are getting close to driving - here is a short update.
We continue to learn little bits of knowledge.

We added a mechanical stop to one of the globe motors. This stop is just in case something goes wrong in a programming step. This stop won't let the wheels turn past 90 degrees in either direction.

We also made a set of bumpers. With a new drive system, who knows where the robot might end up.

We have driven straight directions on the floor.

We have the basics of the module rotation programmed and timed (power limiting to the globes) and have turned the modules full left and full right with the robot up on blocks.

We are controlling the robot with a game controller that has two small joysticks and several buttons. It is working well so far.

We hope to be on the floor and driving Monday night and will take some video and get it posted.

And, we are starting to work on a white paper to document all of this activity.

Several students had a chance to drive and get a feel for the difference in controls. We are using a game controller with one joystick being the module rotation (swerve) and the other being forward / reverse.

As soon as we get some video edited, there will be a short clip posted.

It looks cool and functions well, but my team and I are still trying to decide if it is worth the time and effort.

Thanks. I looked all over team 221's website but I didn't see a price anywhere.
I know you said $265 for the complete kit, but does that include 4 modules or just 1?

Edit: Anthony, you have the weight of the module on your page listed at 8.4 and the note reads that it does not include motors or wheels. You may want to add a note that the listed weight is with a CIM and a wheel.

Sorry about that, our site doesn't have the price listed because we don't have stock, but it is $265 per module.

The 8.4 pounds is with motor and wheel. I'll put a note listing the kit only weight. Thanks for the catch.

Are there any plans to produce drives that can accommodate different size and width wheels?
