Are you making the trip?
We're thinking about it.
Anyone else interested?
Sounds like fun!

Re: G.R.I.T.S. (Georgia Robotics Invitational Tournament and Showcase).

Generally during the Spring season, the administration isn't too happy when a few students miss like ~6 days of school for competition(in block schedule, that equivalent to 12 days), so I don't think we'd be getting on anyone's good side if the team came on Friday.

But we're definitely making the trip for Saturday. We're trying to get the school to help out with transportation so we're not taking like 10 minivans down to Warner Robbins.

Is there a list of teams who have already signed up?

Oh snap! I went to high school in Warner Robins! And I didn't think many people had ever heard of the place .

Perhaps there's a teeny tiny chance I could make a trip down.

1319 will be there we already sent the check. We are so excited to finally be able to attend an off-season event. There just aren't enough in are area. I am sure that G.R.I.T.S will be great and we can't wait to see all our friends from GA as well as all the ones outside of GA and maybe ven some new ones. Hopefully we will have a chance for a few upgrades before we attend, so we can really "Make it Rain" Thanks again GA FIRST for putting this on and I can't wait.

Glad to hear that 1319 and 1261 will be there. 343? 832 sent in our check Monday. Can't wait to see everyone! Looks like its setting up to be a good field:)

Definitely second that there are not enough off-seasons in the South. We also plan of going to TNT in October.

Who else is going?

I hope that the event is putting at least a little bit of pressure on the 4 high schools in the county to show up and see what robotics is all about, and at least start a county-wide club. I know my old physics and calc teachers would have LOVED this kind of thing.

Maybe somebody from the planning committee could post a team list of who has signed up so far. There would have to be a minimum number of teams too, right? I wonder how 1V1 Lunacy would play out? :D

I'm working on gauging interest with 2815, though time isn't on our side; the first meeting for the team is the Tuesday after Labor Day to let the college kids get through the first week of classes without having to worry about pesky things like robots.

It looks like 1771 will be there, how many teams have registered? I hope that it doesn't get canceled due to lack of interest.

Since the drive team was all seniors, there will be an all new drive team getting up to speed. At the moment. the bot is sporting a "WARNING! STUDENT DRIVER" sticker. We may just leave that on there for the competition.

Wow...luckly 3/4 of our drive team was not composed of seniors so we do have people to drive, but we're running new try outs and giving others a chance to drive. We're taking it as a "fun" event more than a "must win" event. :D.

Spoke with our district contact; due to travel restrictions in place for the fall, neither 1398, 1618, nor 2815 will be making the trip. I might make it down to spectate, though.

Budget crunches are getting us too:mad:
I hope you have a great event, and hope to see everybody at Peachtree:)

Wow, that's a lot of teams that won't make it.:ahh: Really sorry to hear that, you guys will be missed.

From what I've heard the field is about half way filled right now. If you know of a local team that might not have signed up please encourage them to do so. Of course all others are invited too:) It'd be nice to have a full field for this inaugural off-season event in Georgia.
