Isn't Smart Start more of a weight loss cereal? HEY, lets feed the robot that starting in week 4, maybe it might shed a couple pounds. hehehe:p

Well the commercials that they have been putting out have been more geared towards kids, and giving them a healthy start to succeed in school. I don't think it is a weight loss product, just one that is under the category of "healthy brain food"

Maybe a new brand of FIRST products:
K Man cereal "The Dean of REAL Champions"

Goody Flowers snacks. "Gracious Brain treats"

Are you talking about mini wheats or smart start. I always viewed smart start as a weight loss aid: healthy, nutritious, and fills you up with less calories.

I looked it up online thinking to myself "man, I'd feel really dumb if Smart Start was not a weight loss cereal." Because to be honest I've only seen a couple of their commercials and didn't even pay attention. But weight loss cereals do have there place in FIRST (by the robot scale)

Just throwing this out there, there's plenty of smart athletes and celebrities out there who also promote education and intelligence, never assume for a second that athlete= brainless..

Much of our team is made of varsity athletes

Good observation!

I think that many times that becomes a prejudgment by all of us.

For some reason, I thought that last year that Team 340 (GRR) put together a petition to General Mills to put a FIRST team on the Wheaties box. Every year they try to pick a novel way to put FIRST into the mainstream. One year it was developing a FIRST US postage stamp, one year it was a FIRST related crossword puzzle for the NY Times.

If my memory isn't correct, at least it sounds like somnething they would have done. I always love to hear what new idea they have each year!

Thanks for the kind words Cynette. It is true that this past year we petitioned General Mills to have a FIRST team on a Wheaties box. Yet we did not receive a positive response. Same thing with the postage stamp. I don't think it's because they are generally uninterested with what teams are doing, I think it's just the sheer volume of requests that they get. We keep trying different things hoping one of them will eventually stick.

One idea that we've tossed around and Upstate NY people might understand better is developing a "Flutie Flakes" type promotion. (For those who don't know, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flutie_Flakes) Something like that is one of the things we're trying this year and might be more realistic then a Wheaties Box.

Extra crunchy? Sure!

I love the idea, but I think it would take quite a bit of work to make it happen...maybe six weeks of work?
