Applications will be reviewed by a committee with employee representatives from each region. Applicants will be notified of decisions in mid-November.

Boeing team grants do not cover registration costs for the FRC Championship Event or the cost of team travel to regional and national events. Contact Rhonda Beason-Jordan for questions not addressed in the Frequently Asked Questions section of the FIRST@Boeing.

If you have a Boeing mentor, make sure to apply for this grant!

The link seems to be broken ("Cannot find server"). Is it Boeing-internal only?

My mistake, it is an internal link. I believe Boeing mentors must apply if the team wants to apply for the grant. Teams - ask your boeing mentor for more information, I just wanted to let everyone know that this will begin on Monday.

Can you post the text of the announcement? If it isn't against Boeing guidelines of course!

Pretty much everything that was important I already posted. The rest of the article just described what FIRST was. Boeing employee mentors have until October 26th to apply for a grant for their respective teams and the application will become available on Monday.

Is Boeing doing grants for FTC?

These grants are only for FRC and cover registration and the kit of parts. I'm not sure if Boeing has provided other grants in the past as I just started working there a few months ago.

If someone from Boeing would PM me with some details I would like to provide what Boeing does to our Senior Leadership team- to give them an idea as to what our competitors believe in funding.

Who knows- maybe competition will help.

Hello purduephotog,

Take a look at Boeing Press Release to figure out what they do in regards to funding for FIRST Robotics , that you can take to your senior leadership :

Re: Boeing Grant Applications Begin Monday

I would presume that if Boeing intends to award 100 plus grants this year and that they don't likely have 100 plus facilities near FRC teams that a location can submit and may be awarded more than one grant.

Does anybody have knowledge of how many grants were awarded by a Boeing facility in their area last year? I ask because it appears that we may have a couple of teams attempting to get the local facility to submit grants. I want to verify that multiple awards can be made in an area/facility.

Thanks,

APS

The grants are not given by local Boeing facilities, they go to a centralized team that review all the grants and allocate them based on the application, not which facility the Boeing mentor works for. At least that is how I understand how it works.

That is my understanding as well but I was wondering if two or more applications came in from one local facility if that would have any effect on the decision to award the grants. Having mentors support two or more teams increases the odds of one of them being funded but might be seen as diluting each application.

I'd like to hear from folks if last year a local facility had mentors who successfully applied for grants in support of two or more teams. Is there a listing of who received awards last year. I could do 10 minutes of research and settle this matter for myself if there is. So does anybody know of such a listing?

Thanks,

APS

Multiple grants can be awarded from one Boeing site and as long as the individual mentors applying for the grants are heavily involved with each team, there shouldn't be any worry about diluting a team's chance for a grant.

Is there a public listing somewhere? I am hoping that up to three or four teams receive Boeing grants this year here in San Antonio.

Congrats on you award:)
