I wondered if it had something to do with a phoenix.

On one of the rare days I check in here, this is exciting news.

Wings of Fire: the name makes me think of 5 years ago, when Flyers, Fire, and a bit of Fusion came together to win at what was GLR.

Thus, by this logic, 51 should be an awesome team. :D

Well, 51 was at Kettering Kickoff today, and it was AWESOME! Not only was it a huge team, but they were very successful. I don't remember their ranking, but I believe that it was very high, and they went on to the finals (I think my memory has gone with my voice today, but I believe that their alliance came in second. Correct me if I'm wrong). The solid purple block in the stands looked unified and friendly, and I wish I had gotten the opportunity to get to talk to a few of the team members.

Congrats, Wings of Fire!

Congrats! Good to see it worked out and both teams will technically still be around. :)

Congrats, Wings of Fire!

I THINK they were 8th seed, but they were number 1 on our list of teams to pick. They were a powerhouse. 862, 51, and 494 did come in 2nd overall, going down to the first seed alliance.

Purple.... it was like a mass of purple.... all you could see was purple. :) I liked it!

(Ashley, our alliance selection person, didn't come through to well on the mic, but she said she wanted to pick 2 teams in the first round of the draft. SO... we pick 51.)

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement and kind words.

It is going to be an exciting year for us on Team 51. When we look at the experiences and strengths of the former 47ers and 65ers who are on board, it looks pretty good. Now we are going to do everything we can to realize our potential. I am sure we will learn a lot about working together.

I would like to say thank you to the 47ers and 65ers who helped make this happen, and especially to our new team leader, Mike Martus.

I would like to extend my deepest, most sincere thanks to the GDC, for bringing alliances to us in 1999.

Ken

Congratulations and Best of Luck on a great solution to the challenge.

I love the name, cool to have a new number. Each team brings history and legacy but you will all forge a new identity as well.

Best of Luck to all.
