NASA FRC grants 2009-2010 ??

Anybody have any news regarding NASA FRC grants for the coming season? I've been checking the webpage and haven't seen it updated yet this year. The grant process opened up around this time last year.

I'm curious to see what veterans will plan on attending the Utah regional. Should get some attention from some great Midwest teams I hope.

Applications for NASA grants for the 2010 FRC competition season will be available soon. Please keep an eye on the NASA Robotics Alliance Project web page and the FIRST web page for upcoming details.

I would strongly urge ALL teams to check the application criteria. New categories of grants will be available this year that may be of interest to all (not just rookie) teams.

So along these lines...we are a 2nd year team getting ready to apply for our second year. Will we be able to get a second control system in the KOP with this years grant?

I would also like to recommend the white paper Kressly did to help with 2009 NASA grants submissions:

No. My understanding is all veteran teams get the kit sans ~$1500 worth of control system/other components.

I think the "Sustaining Team" grants from NASA are a great action and show of support. These grants are specifically for teams who have lost major corporate funding for 2010 an dmay not survive.

I especially like that these at risk teams must identify what they are doing to recover in the future, but NASA recognizes that they may not be able to sustain themselves in 2010 without some assistance.

Good Luck to everyone who applies!

This new category is a great boost from NASA.

I was talking to a team 2 nights ago who has weathered many hurdles over the years, but just found out they are losing a major sponsor of 7 years-both money and mentors. The even bigger issue is the community may be losing this company.
I'm sure NASA will be receiving some stories.

Chris/Jenny-

I couldn't agree with you both more. I think this category of offering is a great move toward sustaining and weathering the storm and it shows that NASA's vision for supporting FIRST (and other similar programs) is about real, lasting impact - not only about new teams.

Thanks NASA. Like Jenny, I too bet you'll be hearing some amazing stories.
