I know I was so upset; because last year they let us request songs. We wanted our mascot to have a dance off, but they wouldn't let us get the song we wanted, otherwise it was epic

Back to the first world after re-establishing contact with the other world (the one where I make money, sometimes):

Do I need to say this was an exciting regional? We had a great time. With "finishing" our bot on Thursday and tweaking it through Friday we were very excited to be seeded #2 in the thick of a very fluid scenario at the end of qualifications and amongst a lot of competitive teams. Thanks to all of our qualifier alliance partners for helping us to get there!:ahh:

It was great being recognized and winning the Engineering Excellence Award, many thanks!

Thanks to Bomb Squad and Metal Mustangs for joining us in a great alliance. It was great playing with you all.

Congratulations to 2345, 525, and 931 for taking home the gold! Excellent strategic switch after the first final match. We brought everything we had to the field but with our worse than we thought overheated cims we couldn't keep up with your flip. You earned what you got, and against some very motivated and competitive teams! Hope to see you again in Atlanta.

Thanks to all staff, volunteers, judges, refs, etc... you all help make these great things possible! All of our inquiries were addressed politely and in a professional manner, keeping things very lighthearted for such a competitive event.

One thing though; the lights over our pits were off through the event until the very end, when it became time to pack-up and leave, even though we asked for them to be turned on and were told it was not possible? Having the lights on during the main event would have made it more enjoyable, and probably safer.::ouch:: working with flashlights was interesting, I even had one blow-up on me!

Now, with increased motivation for Midwest (tweaks are happening as I write!) Thanks to all and see you soon!

Scott

PS Chris, it was good being next to you in the pits, even though our robots were requiring enough attention that we didn't get much time to talk! hope to see you at champs, and certainly at IRI.

PPS Getting to talk to Woody was a dream come true, this is a great thing you guys got started! Happy to be a part of it!

Thank you. You and your alliance members, 16 and 2410, made the finals one to remember. We too, want to see you all at Atlanta. Do well at Midwest, so we can compete again at Nationals.
Best of luck,
from team 2345

Thankyou guys aswell. That was the most exciting experience our team has ever had.

The funnything about your guys pit lighting was that we had the same exact spot last year and built an entire intake system and reprogramed in this dim light.

Scott, last year the pit lighting was pretty dim, but Show Ready Events (who puts on the regionals for FIRST) told us that it was all of the light allowed so as to not interfere with the field. This year we had permission to use the big diffusers (the white globe-like covers over the hanging lights) that were to provide better lighting w/o the interference. I did not notice a lack of light in the pit area, and I have not heard any other comments. But, then again, I was not the working in the pits! So, please find Rex Brown's post earlier in this thread and send a comment to him. That way two of us will have heard it, and it will be brought up at our RPC debrief. Thanks for taking the time to do this. We want to make the event better each time it is held. Thanks for joining us in KC. Your kids were great. We enjoyed having your team participate!
Linda
