I meant to mention 1208 as a tip, forgot to include them. Funny how they're somewhat known for flying under the radar :P

I watched numerous practice rounds today, and was surprised, by who many teams got to the field and were running. I'll be sure to keep an eye on this regional this weekend. There are good bots roaming around.

I'm watching on webcast now, wondering if any of you have the list of teams attending, the match schedule, or the outcomes so far :D

Good luck all.

Attending: www.frclinks.com/e/kc

Results: www.frclinks.com/e/m/kc

You may see a common trend here, go to www.frclinks.com to see the url format for other events or info. You can also type the codes directly into the box on that site instead of appending them to the URL.

Re: Kansas City Regional - 2010

I'm watching via the webcast right now.

I'm kinda disappointed to see the "collusion" strategy being used. When I was watching earlier, in match 38, Blue Alliance sat and did nothing to simply earn more seeding points.

It's interesting to see the idea worked, but I just don't think it's in the spirit of "Gracious Professionalism" to do it...

Looking at the score history, the same thing happened in #29 and 48.

I have an odd suspicion that team 1723 has been behind it since their 3rd match, as it just happened again in match 55. The Red Alliance apparently didn't care for scoring at all, until the end when they saw Blue not scoring either.

I highly recommend not posting "odd suspicions" derived from viewing an event through a webcast here on CD.

Whether it is true or not, making public accusations on such shaky data in a public forum reflects poorly on both you and your team.

Re: Kansas City Regional - 2010

Before we start calling teams out for colluding. Did you see those matches? Did 1723 or their alliance partners score for the other alliance? If not, I don't think you can honestly call that collusion. Just because a team isn't do anything does not mean they are colluding to get more seeding points. Maybe they are having some technical issue with their robot. Maybe they scored 3 goals but had 4 penalties.

And that is not even getting into the discussion of is collusion in the spirit of the game or not.

Re: Kansas City Regional - 2010

Okay, I'm probably just overreacting and assuming things. I shouldn't be doing that, especially when I'm not actually there and only viewing it via a webcast. Sorry.

Usually I don't assume things like that, but it was kinda odd that all 3 robots on an Alliance didn't move an inch in one match, or just ran around in circles when there was a bunch of balls in their zone. I wasn't there, so I couldn't tell if

Again, I'm sorry guys. I'm was getting too far ahead of myself... Apologies to team 1723 if you guys are reading this.
:(

Re: Kansas City Regional - 2010

True collusion would be for the teams to decide to do all of their scoring on one alliance.

If RED wins 20 - 0 (no defense, just everyone scoring on the RED side of the field), both the RED and BLUE teams will "earn" 20 qualification points. That probably exceeds the number of qualifying points earned in any of the matches thus far.

That match strategy would not be good for the game or FRC. I hope we don't see teams resorting to this.

Re: Kansas City Regional - 2010

as far as I know that never happened even good teams like 16 and others have had lots of tech problems all day and there should be more scoring tomorrow and in during the elimination rounds and our robot has had some of it's own problems but we are doing one thing really well and that is hanging every round except the one where we got our hooks stuck in the goal chain
