Most of the Brazilian and other international teams have at least one person who knows English. We had two teams at L.A. last year and didn't have translation issues.

There's a spotlight that says something to the effect of, "If you know three languages, you're trilingual. If you know two languages, you're bilingual. If you know one language, you're American." While not strictly true, many international students know English well enough to talk to you. Also note that gestures, if used properly, can help your mutual understanding.

Agreed. Brazilian teams are in NJ almost every year, and I've never had any difficulty being understood - it's a limited set of topics for discussion, much can be said without words, and most of them speak more than enough English.

Matter of fact, their Foreign Language teachers just LOVE it when they visit; even a week sharpens their skills a very noticeable amount.

Our Team Captain Speaks Fluent Portuguese, I believe. Maybe this will come in handy when it comes to be time for alliance selections... Hmmm. ;)

For the 5th year in a row, I'll also be attending the NJ regional. The Friday, Saturday, Sunday Schedule works really well for me since now I only have to take one day off from work. Yay!

Nicholas is fluent in Portuguese, as he already stated. No translators needed ;)

NJ should be a blast once again. We have a few surprises in store for our fellow teams.

Hey you guys!!!

TEAM #1382 is extremely excited to return to the origins!!! NJ regional is where we start (as our friends of TEAM #1860) and we have no intentions to go away again!

We know that is one of the most hard and special events of FIRST, and we are working hard (on the robot, and in the team spirit) to be worthy to participate this year!

I'm mentor of the team, and i was talking with the others "oldies" about our participations in the NJ regional and about the teams, etc... TEAM #1676 The (PI)oneers, was yours first season in 2005, maybe 2006? Was in NJ regional right? I remeber yours incredible pitstop infrastructure and organization... absolutely a model to be followed.

Teams, please, feel free to take look in our website (www.etepteam.com) to know a little more about our team, our history and our evolution during the season... ! We hope you enjoy it!

Also, feel free to take a look in this tread (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...threadid=82124) , thats about our robot of this season... we would appreciate feedbacks!

Good luck to us!!!:D
