Congratulations to 1902 for the Chairman's Award and Imagery Award. You are such a deserving team!

I'm sorry to hear that Wendy and Sarah weren't there to share in the moment.
Sounds like the regional volunteers had a rough time with illness this weekend. Hope you all feel better soon.

Jane

Apparently, she had to squawk without a voice and cry her beautiful blue eyes out at home, in private. Can you beLIEVE it?!

Sarah's been in contact and said the Ambassadors and students stepped up to help keep the volunteer side of things running. I know she is mighty grateful for everyone pitching in to keep such an amazing regional going. There's a flu bug going around.

Wow and I know how much Wendy wanted Bacon to win it, when they do she isn't there, what a bummer. I hope her voice comes back soon.

Re: 2010 FLORIDA REGIONAL

Let me explain the possession penalties,

We started using our ball magnet to "strike" while our kicker wasn't working properly. The way our roller-with-bar setup works causes the ball to be lifted up off the ground about a quarter to half inch for a split second when we drive over the transition (where there is plywood under the carpet by the humps and tower), but always staying in contact with flat ground.

Other than penalties, our malfunctioning radio the last two matches didn't make us the most appealing candidate.

Sadly, right as alliance selections were beginning we were able to fix the radio (broken cable), fix our kicker's servo, and fix the hanging mechanism. We were a (nearly) fully functional robot hoping to luck out with selections, and come out guns blazing.

Instead, we will implement a solution to keep the ball on the floor when driving onto the small transition, and hopefully optimize our target tracking camera controlled variable range turret ball launching mechanism (sounds really advanced when you say it that way). We hope to be more competitive in LA, so see you there.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

And congratulations to the regional winners, it was a hectic event for us, but still a lot of fun.

What an Awesome Regional!

I wold have never known about the illnesses had I not read it here. The Regional went off flawlessly to the participants and spectators. Thank You Volunteers!

I find it simply amazing the number of matches played in the Finals. Has anyone ever seen so many ties and rubber matches before? It seems like 3-4 hard-fought matches were required for each advance. That was some great action!

Congratulations to all that attended and watched online. You are all winners for doing so.

I watched the finals on the webcast and found it very exciting even though I had no fovorite tocheer for. All 6 teams played hard and smart.

Team 86's robot was very impressive and fun to watch as it rolled and bounced around and was able to score and defend. Now I really want to go to Atlanta so I can watch it in person.

I have to say, after being in the pits all day I only really got to watch the finals. Seeing 86 roll and bounce all over the field really made my day, especially since it was my first time watching and enjoying them throughout the entire event.

I hope everyone gets better from this illness soon.

as for my thanks

1345- It was an honor to be selected to be in a alliance with such a strong robot. you had shown us how powerful you were earlier that morning when beat us earlier that morning.

1649- Year after year you guys have put a strong robot on to the field here at the Florida Regional, and this year was no exception. It was great to play with you guys on our alliance.

180- Thank you for providing my team with some very valuable scouting information. It really helped in finding gaps in our scouting data. Somebody once told me the best way to learn about scouting is to work with a veteran team. Next year, I'll make sure some of our kids learn from one of the best teams that know what scouting is all about.

1902- Even though i wasn't there for the social, a lot of the kids on my team told me they had a blast at the event and enjoyed it very much, Thank you for hosting the social event. Maybe next year i'll be able to make it and find out what all the positive buzz was about.

1369- Thank you for lending us your programmer. Without him, we wouldn't have a autonomous mode.

86- Thank you for inspiring a countless number of people with your wonderful, elegant, robot design. It was nearly imposable to play defense on such a unique robot. not to mention the robot was a fan favorite and was one of the most entertaining robots to watch in this years game to this date.

Congrats to team 1902 for winning the chairman's award. I heard how much hard work was put into making the Chairman's Award video. and i can only wonder how much more hard work is put into the various events your team does from the FTC Kickoff to the social for this regional.

Congrats to teams 1251, 86, and 1612 for winning the Florida Regional. Our alliance learned first hand how hard it was to actually play at the level you guys played at, as well as how hard it was to defend all the offensive threats your alliance had.

The Volunteers who worked the field- You guys did an AMAZING job considering al the various issues with the Field Management System. While you guys worked hard to get the field moving, the game announcer's and emcee's along with various other volunteers worked hard to keep the crowd entertained. Nothing kills the buzz after a awesome match like a field issue. but the arena was electric all throughout the regional, weather the field was operating or not.

and last but not least, congrats to Ms. Beck of team 103 for winning Woodie Flowers Finalist Award.

I hope everyone had a blast here these past three days. and i hope to some of you later int he season, if not all of your next year at this same regional.
